Timing Sprockets

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



See Figures 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5

This procedure pertains to the 2.5L engine only.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the timing belt.
  4.  
  5. Remove the crankshaft sprocket bolt.
  6.  
  7. Using the puller tool C-4685, or equivalent, and the button from tool L-4524, or equivalent, remove the crankshaft sprocket.
  8.

  1. Using tool C-4687 or equivalent, hold the camshaft and/or intermediate sprocket, while removing the centerbolt and sprocket(s).

  1. The installation is the reverse of the removal procedure. Tighten the camshaft and intermediate sprocket bolt to 65 ft. lbs. (88 Nm) and the crankshaft sprocket bolt to 50 ft. lbs. (68 Nm).
