REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



Pick-Up and Ramcharger

See Figures 1, 2 and 3

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the wires from the wiper motor.
  4.  
  5. Remove the mounting bolts.
  6.

  1. Pull the motor out far enough to gain access to the crank arm to motor link retainer bushing.
  2.  
  3. Remove the crank arm from the drive link by prying the retainer bushing from the crank arm pin with a suitable prying tool.
  4.  
  5. Remove the motor from the vehicle.
  6.  
  7. Hold the crank arm with a wrench while removing the crank nut to prevent from overloading the gears.
  8.  
  9. Remove the crank arm from the motor.
  10.  

To install:
  1. Index the slot correctly and position the crank arm on the motor shaft. Start the crank nut making sure the crank arm does not move from its slotted position.
  2.  
  3. Hold the crank arm with a wrench and torque the nut to 95 inch lbs. (11 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Lubricate the drive link retainer bushing and install the crank arm pin to the bushing by snapping them together suitable pliers.
  6.  
  7. Install the motor to the vehicle and tighten the mounting bolts for 1989-93 models to 65 inch lbs. (7 Nm) and 1994-96 models to 55 inch lbs. (6 Nm).
  8.  
  9. Connect the wires to the motor.
  10.  
  11. Connect the negative battery cable and check the wiper motor for proper operation.
  12.  

Dakota

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the connector from the motor.
  4.  
  5. Remove the wiper arms, raise the hood and remove the cowl panel.
  6.  
  7. Hold the drive crank with a wrench while remove the crank nut. Remove the drive crank.
  8.  
  9. Remove the mounting nuts and remove the motor from the vehicle.
  10.  
  11. The installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
  12.  
  13. Connect the negative battery cable and check the wipers for proper operation.
