REPLACEMENT



Durango, Dakota
  1. Disconnect the battery negative cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the trim cover from the right cowl side inner panel.
  4.  
  5. Reach under the instrument panel below the glove box to access and disconnect the antenna coaxial cable connector.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the connector by pulling it apart while twisting the metal connector halves. Do NOT pull on the cable.
  8.  
  9. Disengage the antenna coaxial cable from the retainer clips on the lower instrument panel reinforcement and the blower housing.
  10.  
  11. Disengage the antenna coaxial cable retainers at the right side inner panel and inside the right front fender.
  12.  
  13. Unscrew the mast from the antenna body.
  14.  
  15. Remove the antenna cap nut.
  16.  
  17. Remove the antenna adapter from the top of the fender.
  18.  
  19. Lower the antenna body through the mounting hole in the top of the fender.
  20.  
  21. Pull the antenna body and cable out through the opening between the right cowl side outer panel and the fender through the front door opening.
  22.  
  23. Disengage the antenna coaxial cable grommet from the hole in the right cowl side outer panel.
  24.  
  25. Pull the antenna coaxial cable out of the passenger compartment through the hole in the right cowl side outer panel.
  26.  
  27. Installation is the reverse of removal.

Ram
  1. Disconnect the battery negative cable.
  2.  
  3. On 1997 models, remove the five screws that secure the right cowl side kick panel/sill trim and remove the sill trim.
  4.  
  5. On other models, reach under the passenger side of the instrument panel near the right cowl side inner panel to disengage the coaxial cable connector from the retainer clip located on the bottom of the blower housing. Remove the foam tape to access the coaxial cable connector.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the connector by pulling it apart while twisting the metal connector halves. Do NOT pull on the cable.
  8.  
  9. Securely tie a suitable length of twine to the antenna half of the coaxial cable connector.
  10.  
  11. Reach above the PCM, on the right side of the dash panel in the engine compartment, to disengage the antenna coaxial cable grommet from the hole in the dash panel.
  12.  
  13. Pull the cable out of the passenger compartment and into the engine compartment, through the hole in the dash panel.
  14.  
  15. Raise the sleeve on the antenna mast far enough to access and unscrew the mast from the body.
  16.  
  17. Remove the antenna cap nut.
  18.  
  19. Remove the antenna adapter from the top of the fender.
  20.  
  21. Lower the antenna body and cable through the mounting hole in the top of the fender.
  22.  
  23. Pull the antenna body and cable out through the opening between the right cowl side outer panel and the top of the fender, while feeding the antenna coaxial cable out of the engine compartment through the hole in the right cowl side reinforcement.
  24.  
  25. Untie the twine from the antenna body and coaxial connector leaving the twine in the place of the cable through the vehicle.
  26.  
  27. Remove the antenna from the vehicle.
  28.  
  29. Installation is the reverse of removal.
