REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



  1. Open the door.
  2.  
  3. Ram: remove the cowl trim panel.
  4.  
  5. Disengage the door wire harness connector.
  6.  
  7. Ram: remove the hidden bolts attaching the door hinge to the hinge pillar behind the cowl panel.
  8.  
  9. Using a suitable marker, mark the outline of the door hinges on the hinge pillar to aid installation.
  10.  
  11. Support the door with a suitable lifting device.
  12.  
  13. Remove the hardware attaching the lower door hinge to the hinge pillar.
  14.  
  15. While holding the door steady on a lift, remove the bolts attaching he upper door hinge to the hinge pillar.
  16.  
  17. Remove the door from the vehicle.
  18.  
  19. Installation is the reverse of removal. Tighten the hinge hardware to 21 ft. lbs. (28 Nm).

ADJUSTMENT



Durango

Minor adjustment for alignment of the door is made by moving the latch striker.

IN & OUT ADJUSTMENT
  1. Loosen the latch striker.
  2.  
  3. Tap the striker inward if the door character line is outboard of the body character line. Tap the striker outward if the door character line is inboard of the body character line.
  4.  
  5. When position is correct, tighten the striker to 21 ft. lbs. (28 Nm).
  6.  

UP & DOWN ADJUSTMENT
  1. Loosen the latch striker.
  2.  
  3. Tap the striker downward if the door character line is higher than the body character line. Tap the striker upward if the door character line is lower than the body character line.
  4.  
  5. When position is correct, tighten the striker to 21 ft. lbs. (28 Nm).
  6.  

Dakota Rear Door

A minor adjustment for the alignment of the door can be made by moving the latch striker position.

IN & OUT ADJUSTMENT
  1. Loosen the latch striker.
  2.  
  3. Tap the striker inward if the door character line is outboard of the body character line. Tap the striker outward if the door character line is inboard of the body character line.
  4.  
  5. When position is correct, tighten the striker to 21 ft. lbs. (28 Nm).
  6.  

UP & DOWN ADJUSTMENT
  1. Loosen the latch striker.
  2.  
  3. Tap the striker downward if the door character line is higher than the body character line. Tap the striker upward if the door character line is lower than the body character line.
  4.  
  5. When position is correct, tighten the striker to 21 ft. lbs. (28 Nm).
  6.  

Dakota, Ram
RAM FORE/AFT ADJUSTMENT

Fore/aft (lateral) door adjustment is done by loosening the hinge to cowl screws one hinge at a time. Then, move the door to the correct position.

  1. Support the door with a padded floor jack.
  2.  
  3. Loosen the applicable hinge to cowl screws. Move the door to the correct position.
  4.  
  5. Tighten the screws.
  6.  

IN & OUT ADJUSTMENT

In/out door adjustment is done by loosening the hinge to door fasteners. Then, move the door to the correct position.

  1. Support the door with a padded floor jack.
  2.  
  3. Loosen the applicable hinge to door fasteners. Move the door to the correct position.
  4.  
  5. Tighten the fasteners.
  6.  

UP & DOWN ADJUSTMENT

In/out door adjustment is done by loosening the hinge to cowl fasteners at both hinges. Then move the door to the correct position.

  1. Support the door with a padded floor jack.
  2.  
  3. Loosen the applicable hinge to cowl fasteners at both hinges. Move the door to the correct position.
  4.  
  5. Tighten the fasteners.
  6.  

Ram Cargo Door
  1. Remove the C-pillar trim to access the bolts attaching the cargo door.
  2.  
  3. Support the door with a padded floor jack.
  4.  
  5. For up/down or fore/aft adjustment, loosen the applicable C-pillar to hinge bolts and move the door to the correct position.
  6.  
  7. For in/out adjustment, loosen the applicable hinge to door fasteners and move the door to the correct position.
  8.  
  9. Proper torque for this hardware is 21 ft. lbs. (28 Nm).
