Lower Suspension Arm

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



Ram With Independent Front Suspension
  1. Raise and support the vehicle.
  2.  
  3. Remove the wheel.
  4.  
  5. Remove the brake caliper assembly and rotor.
  6.  
  7. Remove the cotter pin and nut from the tie rod. Remove the tie rod end from the steering knuckle.
  8.  
  9. Remove the stabilizer bar link from the lower suspension arm.
  10.  
  11. Support the lower suspension arm outboard end. Place a jack under the arm in front of shock mount.
  12.  
  13. Remove the cotter pin and nut from the lower ball joint. Separate the ball joint.
  14.  
  15. Remove the lower shock bolt.
  16.  
  17. Lower the jack and suspension arm until the spring tension is relieved. Remove spring and rubber isolator.
  18.  
  19. Remove the bolts mounting the suspension arm to the crossmember and remove the arm.
  20.  
  21. Installation is the reverse of removal. Check the specifications charts for proper torque of mounting hardware.

Ram With Link/Coil Suspension
  1. Raise and support the vehicle.
  2.  
  3. Scribe alignment marks on the cam adjusters and suspension arm for installation reference.
  4.  
  5. Remove the lower suspension arm nut, cam and cam bolt from the axle.
  6.  
  7. Remove the nut and bolt from the frame rail bracket and remove the lower suspension arm.
  8.  
  9. Installation is the reverse of removal. Check the specifications charts for proper torque of mounting hardware.
  10.  

Dakota, Durango 2WD
  1. Raise and support the vehicle.
  2.  
  3. Remove the wheel.
  4.  
  5. Remove the caliper and rotor.
  6.  
  7. Remove the shock absorber.
  8.  
  9. Remove the stabilizer bar link from the lower suspension arm.
  10.  
  11. Remove the coil spring.
  12.  
  13. Remove the lower suspension arm mounting bolts from the frame mounts and remove the arm.
  14.  
  15. Installation is the reverse of removal. Check the specifications charts for proper torque of mounting hardware.

Dakota, Durango 4WD
  1. Raise and support the vehicle.
  2.  
  3. Remove the wheel.
  4.  
  5. Remove the front driveshaft.
  6.  
  7. Remove the torsion bar.
  8.  
  9. Remove the shock absorber lower bolt.
  10.  
  11. Remove the stabilizer bar.
  12.  
  13. Remove the cotter pin and nut from the lower ball joint. Separate the ball joint.
  14.  
  15. Remove the suspension arm pivot bolts and suspension arm from frame rail brackets.
  16.  
  17. Installation is the reverse of removal. Check the specifications charts for proper torque of mounting hardware.
