Upper Suspension Arm

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



Ram With Independent Front Suspension
  1. Raise and support the vehicle.
  2.  
  3. Remove the wheel.
  4.  
  5. Support the lower suspension arm at the outboard end with a jack stand.
  6.  
  7. Remove the upper ball joint cotter pin and nut and separate the joint.
  8.  
  9. Remove the pivot bar bolts from the upper suspension arm bracket and remove the arm from the vehicle.
  10.  
  11. Installation is the reverse of removal. Check the specifications charts for proper torque of mounting hardware.

Ram With Link/Coil Front Suspension
  1. Raise and support the vehicle.
  2.  
  3. Remove the upper suspension arm nut and bolt at the axle bracket.
  4.  
  5. Remove the nut and bolt at the frame rail and remove the upper suspension arm.
  6.  
  7. Installation is the reverse of removal. Check the specifications charts for proper torque of mounting hardware.

Dakota, Durango 2WD
  1. Raise and support the vehicle.
  2.  
  3. Remove the wheel.
  4.  
  5. Remove the brake hose bracket from the suspension arm.
  6.  
  7. Position a jack beneath the arm and raise it to unload the rebound bumper.
  8.  
  9. Remove the cotter pin and nut from the upper ball joint and separate the ball joint.
  10.  
  11. Remove the suspension arm pivot bar mounting nuts and remove the suspension arm.
  12.  
  13. Installation is the reverse of removal. Check the specifications charts for proper torque of mounting hardware.

Dakota, Durango 4WD
  1. Raise and support the vehicle.
  2.  
  3. Remove the wheel.
  4.  
  5. Remove the brake hose bracket from the suspension arm.
  6.  
  7. Position a jack beneath the arm and raise it to unload the rebound bumper.
  8.  
  9. Remove the shock absorber.
  10.  
  11. Remove the cotter pin and nut from the upper ball joint and separate the ball joint.
  12.  
  13. Remove the suspension arm pivot bar mounting bolts and remove the suspension arm.
  14.  
  15. Installation is the reverse of removal. Check the specifications charts for proper torque of mounting hardware.
