Low and Reverse Band

The pan must be removed from the transmission to gain access to the low and reverse band adjusting screw.

  1. Remove the skid plate, if any. Drain the transmission fluid and remove the pan.
  3. Loosen the band adjusting screw locknut and back it off about five turns. Be sure that the adjusting screw turns freely in the lever.
  5. Torque the adjusting screw to 72 in. lbs.
  7. Back off the adjusting screw as follows:

    A-727: 2 turns
    A-904T and A-999: 4 turns


Keep the adjusting screw from turning, tighten and torque the locknut to 30 ft. lbs.

  1. Use a new gasket and install the transmission pan. Torque the pan bolts to 150 in. lbs. Refill the transmission with ATF+3® II fluid.
