The pan must be removed from the transmission to gain access to the low and reverse band adjusting screw.
- Remove the skid plate, if any. Drain the transmission fluid and remove the pan.
- Loosen the band adjusting screw locknut and back it off about five turns. Be sure that the adjusting screw turns freely in the lever.
- Torque the adjusting screw to 72 in. lbs.
Back off the adjusting screw as follows:
A-727: 2 turns
Keep the adjusting screw from turning, tighten and torque the locknut to 30 ft. lbs.
- Use a new gasket and install the transmission pan. Torque the pan bolts to 150 in. lbs. Refill the transmission with ATF+3® II fluid.
