The vehicle data plate containing the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), on 1967-69 models is located on the top inside surface of the left wheel well opening. On 1970-80 models, the plate is located on the rear face of the driver's side door. On 1981-88 models, it is located on the upper left corner of the instrument panel, near the windshield.

1967-69 VEHICLES



A typical serial number for these years might be 2082-158000.

The first 2 digits indicate the model code. The third digit indicates the number of cylinders; 6-6 cylinders and 8-8 cylinders. The fourth digit indicates the assembly plant, as follows:



1 or 2 Warren Truck Assembly
 
6 Windsor Truck Assembly
 
7 Missouri Truck Assembly
 

The fifth to tenth digits are the sequential serial number.

1970-73 VEHICLES



The vehicle identification number consist of a combination of 13 digits. The first seven characters identify the model, body type, GVW, engine model year and assembly plant. The last 6 digits are the sequential serial number, always starting from 000001. A typical serial number might be B24AE3U000001.

The first letter indicates the model



B=van
 

The second character indicates the series



1=100 ( 1 / 2 ton) series
 
2=200 ( 3 / 4 ton) series
 
3=300 (1 ton) series.
 

The third number is the body code



1=Tradesman van
 
2=Sportsman wagon
 
3=Custom Sportsman wagon
 
4=Royal Sportsman wagon
 
5=Tradesman Maxivan
 
6=Sportsman Maxiwagon
 
7=Custom Sportsman Maxiwagon

The fourth character indicates the GVW

The fifth character indicates the engine
