Clutch Master Cylinder

The use of fresh, uncontaminated brake fluid meeting or exceeding DOT 3 standards or equivalent is recommended.

See Figure 1

  1. Check the level of fluid in the clutch master cylinder reservoir. The fluid should be maintained between the markings on the reservoir.

Any sudden decrease in fluid level indicates a probable leak in the system and should be inspected immediately.

  1. Clean around the reservoir cap with a shop rag to prevent contaminating the fluid with dirt.
  3. Remove the cap and add the required amount of fluid to the system.

When making additions of fluid, use only fresh, uncontaminated brake fluid meeting or exceeding DOT 3 standards. Be careful not to spill any brake fluid on painted surfaces, because it will damage the paint. Do not allow the fluid container or clutch reservoir to remain open any longer than necessary; brake fluid absorbs moisture from the air, reducing its effectiveness and causing brake line corrosion.

  1. Install the reservoir cap.
