TESTING



  1. Raise and safely support the vehicle securely on jackstands.
  2.  
  3. Ensure the ignition key is in the OFF position.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the speed sensor electrical harness.
  6.  
  7. Measure resistance between the terminals on the speed sensor
  8.  
  9. Resistance should be 1000-2500 ohms.
  10.  
  11. If resistance is not within specification, check harness for continuity.
  12.  
  13. If continuity exists, sensor is faulty.
  14.  

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

  1. Raise and safely support the vehicle securely on jackstands.
  2.  
  3. Remove the wheels.
  4.  
  5. Remove the disc brake caliper and rotor.
  6.  
  7. Remove the sensor mounting bolts.
  8.  

The sensor uses special mounting bolts. These bolts have a unique shoulder, thread length and surface treatment. Use only factory replacement bolts; do NOT use substitute bolts.

  1. Label and disconnect the speed sensor harness.
  2.  
  3. Remove the sensor.
  4.  
  5. If sensor harness is to be replaced, remove the clips securing the sensor wire to the control arm and inner fender panel.
  6.  

To install:
  1. If the sensor harness was replaced, attach the sensor wire using clips.
  2.  
  3. Connect the speed sensor harness.
  4.  
  5. Install the sensor and tighten mounting bolts to 190 inch lbs. (21 Nm).
  6.  
  7. Install the disc brake caliper and rotor.
  8.  
  9. Install the wheels.
  10.  
  11. Lower the vehicle.
  12.

  1. Raise the vehicle and support it safely.
  2.  
  3. Remove the sensor hold-down bolt.
  4.  
  5. Remove the sensor shield and sensor from the differential by pulling the sensor straight out.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the wiring and remove the sensor.
  8.  

To install:
  1. Connect the wiring to the sensor. Make sure the seal is in place between the sensor and wiring connector.
  2.  
  3. Install the sensor into the differential housing, making sure the new O-ring is in place.
  4.  
  5. Install the sensor shield.
  6.  
  7. Install the sensor hold-down bolt and tighten it to 170-230 inch lbs. (19-29 Nm).
  8.  
  9. Lower the vehicle.
  10.
