REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

  1. Raise and safely support the vehicle securely on jackstands.
  2.  
  3. Remove the wheels.
  4.  
  5. Remove the brake calipers and suspend them out of the way.
  6.  

Do not disconnect the brake lines.

  1. Remove the shock absorbers.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the sway bar, if so equipped.
  4.  
  5. Remove the lower control arm strut bar.
  6.  
  7. Install an appropriate spring compressor following the manufacturer's instructions.
  8.  

This will retain the spring in place until the lower control arm is disconnected and lowered for spring removal.

  1. Remove the ball joint nuts.
  2.  
  3. Using ball joint separator, separate the ball joint from the steering knuckle.
  4.  
  5. Slowly loosen the spring compressor until all tension is relieved from the coil.
  6.  
  7. Remove the compressor and spring.
  8.  

To install:
  1. Position the spring on the control arm and install the compressor.
  2.  
  3. Compress the spring until the ball joint is properly positioned.
  4.  
  5. Install the ball joint nuts and tighten them to 135 ft. lbs. (183 Nm) for 11 / 16 nuts, or 175 ft. lbs. (237 Nm) for 3 / 4 nuts. Install new cotter pins.
  6.  
  7. Install the lower control arm strut bar.
  8.  
  9. Connect the sway bar.
  10.  
  11. Remove the spring compressor.
  12.  
  13. Install the shock absorber.
  14.  
  15. Install the brake caliper.
  16.  
  17. Install the wheels
  18.  
  19. Lower the vehicle.
  20.
