Knuckle and Spindle

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

  1. Raise and safely support the vehicle securely on jackstands.
  2.  
  3. Remove the wheels.
  4.  
  5. Remove the brake calipers and suspend them out of the way.
  6.  

Do not disconnect the brake lines.

  1. Remove the brake rotor.
  2.  
  3. Remove the brake splash shield.
  4.  
  5. Support the lower control arm with a floor jack.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the tie rod from the knuckle.
  8.  
  9. Disconnect the ball joints from the knuckle.
  10.  
  11. Remove the knuckle.
  12.  
  13. Unbolt the brake adapter from the knuckle.
  14.  

To install:
  1. Install the adapter on the knuckle and tighten bolts to 100 ft. lbs. (136 Nm).
  2.  
  3. Align the steering arm and the knuckle, then tighten 5 / 8 inch nuts to 217 ft. lbs. (294 Nm) and 3 / 4 inch nuts to 225 ft. lbs. (330 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Install the knuckle assembly on the control arms and connect the ball joints.
  6.  
  7. Connect the tie rod ends.
  8.  
  9. Install the splash shield and new dust seal. Tighten the bolts to 18 ft. lbs. (1 Nm).
  10.  
  11. Install the brake rotor.
  12.  
  13. Install the brake calipers.
  14.  
  15. Install the wheels.
  16.  
  17. Lower the vehicle.
  18.
