Blower Motor

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



See Figure 1

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the top half of the radiator fan shroud.
  4.  
  5. Move the top half of the shroud out of the way. Remove the blower motor cooler tube from the blower.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the blower motor wiring connector.
  8.  
  9. Remove the blower motor cooling tube from the nipple on the blower housing cover.
  10.  
  11. Remove the blower motor mounting plate screws or nuts and washers.
  12.  
  13. While holding the suction and discharge lines inboard and upward (if equipped with A/C), remove the blower motor from the housing.
  14.  
  15. Inspect and replace any damaged sealing material.
  16.  
  17. Remove the retaining clip that retains the blower motor fan wheel to the blower motor shaft.
  18.  

To install:
  1. Install the blower motor fan wheel over the blower motor shaft and install the retaining clip.
  2.  
  3. Place a bead of RTV sealant around the blower motor side of the rubber seal.
  4.  
  5. Position the rubber seal on the blower motor mounting plate.
  6.  
  7. Place the blower motor in position and secure it with the mounting screws or nuts and washers. Tighten the nuts to 20 inch lbs. (2.2 Nm).
  8.  
  9. Install the blower motor vent cooling tube and connect the wiring harness.
  10.  
  11. Install the top shroud.
  12.  
  13. Connect the negative battery cable.
  14.

Auxiliary Heater/Air Conditioner Blower Motor

See Figure 2

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Raise and support the vehicle.
  4.  
  5. Remove the cover from the auxiliary heater-A/C unit.
  6.  
  7. Remove the vertical duct from the auxiliary heater-A/C unit.
  8.  
  9. Remove the horizontal duct from the auxiliary heater-A/C unit.
  10.  
  11. Remove the upper housing from the auxiliary heater-A/C unit.
  12.  
  13. Disconnect the blower motor wiring connector.
  14.  
  15. Remove the blower motor cooling tube from the nipple on the blower housing cover.
  16.  
  17. Remove the blower motor mounting plate screws or nuts and washers.
  18.  
  19. Inspect and replace any damaged sealing material.
  20.  
  21. Remove the retaining clip that retains the blower motor fan wheel to the blower motor shaft.
  22.  

To install:
  1. Install the blower motor fan wheel over the blower motor shaft and install the retaining clip.
  2.  
  3. Place a bead of RTV sealant around the blower motor side of the rubber seal.
  4.  
  5. Position the rubber seal on the blower motor mounting plate.
  6.  
  7. Place the blower motor in position and secure it with the mounting screws or nuts and washers. Tighten the nuts to 20 inch lbs. (2.2 Nm).
  8.  
  9. Install the upper housing on the auxiliary heater-A/C unit.
  10.  
  11. Install the horizontal duct on the auxiliary heater-A/C unit.
  12.  
  13. Install the vertical duct on the auxiliary heater-A/C unit.
  14.  
  15. Install the cover on the auxiliary heater-A/C unit.
  16.  
  17. Lower the vehicle.
  18.  
  19. Connect the negative battery cable.
