REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



Front Turn Signal and Parking Lights
1989-93 models

See Figure 1

  1. Raise and support the hood.
  2.  
  3. Remove the headlamp trim bezel retaining screws and remove the bezel.
  4.  

The parking lamp assembly is attached to the bezel.

  1. Remove the parking lamp and turn signal bulb sockets from the bezel.
  2.  
  3. Set the bezel down in a safe place.
  4.  
  5. Remove the bulb(s) from the socket(s).
  6.  

To install:
  1. Install the bulb(s) into the socket(s).
  2.  
  3. Pick up the bezel and install the sockets into the bezel.
  4.  
  5. Install the bezel and lamp assembly into the front of the vehicle.
  6.  
  7. Tighten the retaining screws on the bezel assembly.
  8.  
  9. Lower the hood.
  10.

1994-98 models

See Figures 2 and 3

  1. Raise and support the hood.
  2.  
  3. Remove the parking and turn signal lamp assembly retaining screws.
  4.  
  5. Pull outward on the lamp assembly to disengage the pin from the fender, remove the lamp assembly.
  6.  
  7. Remove the bulb sockets from the lamp assembly.
  8.  
  9. Remove the bulb(s) from the socket(s).
  10.  

To install:
  1. Install the bulb(s) into the socket(s).
  2.  
  3. Install the sockets into the lamp assembly.
  4.  
  5. Install the lamp assembly into the fender, making sure pin is aligned with hole in fender.
  6.  
  7. Tighten the retaining screws.
  8.  
  9. Lower the hood.
  10.

Rear Turn Signal, Brake, Side Marker and Parking Lights

See Figures 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8

  1. Remove the tail lamp assembly retaining screws.
  2.  
  3. Remove the tail lamp assembly from the vehicle.
  4.  
  5. Remove the bulb sockets from the tail lamp assembly.
  6.  
  7. Remove the bulb(s) from their socket(s).
  8.  

To install:
  1. Install the bulb(s) into the sockets.
  2.  
  3. Install the bulb sockets into the tail lamp assembly.
  4.  
  5. Install the tail lamp onto vehicle.
  6.  
  7. Tighten the tail lamp retaining screws.
  8.

High-Mount Brake Light

See Figures 9 and 10

  1. Remove the retaining screws on the high-mount brake lamp lens.
  2.  
  3. Remove the bulb socket from the lens assembly by twisting out.
  4.  
  5. Grasp the bulb and remove it from the socket.
  6.  

To install:
  1. Install a new bulb into the socket, and install the socket into the lens.
  2.  
  3. Install the lens into the lamp assembly.
  4.  
  5. Tighten the retaining screws.
  6.

Dome Light

  1. Using a small prytool, carefully remove the cover lens from the lamp assembly.
  2.  
  3. Remove the bulb from its retaining clip contacts. If the bulb has tapered ends, gently depress the spring clip/metal contact and disengage the light bulb, then pull it free of the two metal contacts.
  4.  

To install:
  1. Before installing the light bulb into the metal contacts, ensure that all electrical conducting surfaces are free of corrosion or dirt.
  2.  
  3. Position the bulb between the two metal contacts. If the contacts have small holes, be sure that the tapered ends of the bulb are situated in them.
  4.  
  5. To ensure that the replacement bulb functions properly, activate the applicable switch to illuminate the bulb which was just replaced. If the replacement light bulb does not illuminate, either it is faulty or there is a problem in the bulb circuit or switch. Correct as necessary.
  6.  
  7. Install the cover lens until its retaining tabs are properly engaged.
  8.  

Cargo or Passenger Area Lamps (Rear of Cargo and Club Wagons)

  1. Using a small prytool, carefully remove the cover lens from the lamp assembly.
  2.  
  3. Remove the bulb from its retaining clip contacts. If the bulb has tapered ends, gently depress the spring clip/metal contact and disengage the light bulb, then pull it free of the two metal contacts.
  4.  

To install:
  1. Before installing the light bulb into the metal contacts, ensure that all electrical conducting surfaces are free of corrosion or dirt.
  2.  
  3. Position the bulb between the two metal contacts. If the contacts have small holes, be sure that the tapered ends of the bulb are situated in them.
  4.  
  5. To ensure that the replacement bulb functions properly, activate the applicable switch to illuminate the bulb which was just replaced. If the replacement light bulb does not illuminate, either it is faulty or there is a problem in the bulb circuit or switch. Correct as necessary.

License Plate Lights
Base and standard bumper

See Figures 12, 13, 14 and 15

  1. Remove the license plate.
  2.  
  3. Remove the bolts attaching the lamp assembly to the bumper.
  4.  
  5. Bring the lamp assembly down to access the lens cover retaining screws.
  6.  
  7. Remove the lens retaining screws.
  8.  
  9. Remove the lens from the lamp.
  10.  
  11. Remove the bulb from the socket.
  12.  

To install:
  1. Install the bulb into the socket.
  2.  
  3. Install the lens over the lamp and tighten the retaining screws.
  4.  
  5. Install the lamp assembly onto the bumper.
  6.  
  7. Tighten the bolts attaching the lamp assembly to the bumper.
  8.  
  9. Install the license plate.
  10.

Step bumper
  1. Remove the lamp retaining screws.
  2.  
  3. Remove the lamp(s) assembly from the bumper.
  4.  
  5. Remove the bulb(s) from the socket.
  6.  

To install:
  1. Install the bulb into the socket.
  2.  
  3. Install the lamp on the bumper and tighten the retaining screws.
  4.
