Idle Speed and Mixture Adjustments

Print

Idle speed and mixture adjustments on all engines covered in this guide are controlled by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). No adjustments are necessary.

If idle speed is not within specification, inspect the engine for:

Proper idle speed control actuator functioning

Engine or EGR vacuum leaks

Proper ignition timing

Proper coolant temperature sensor function

If engine functions are normal, perform the idle speed control actuator adjustment, as described in Driveability & Emission Controls .
