On most engines, the engine serial number is stamped into a machined pad located on the left front corner of the cylinder block. On some early model engines, the serial number is stamped into a machined pad located on the right side of the cylinder block, near the oil pan rail.

It is imperative that the engine type and serial number be used when ordering parts or making inquiries about the engine.
