REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



Front Door Glass
2-DOOR VEHICLES

See Figures 1, 2 and 3

  1. Remove the door trim panel and water shield.
  2.  
  3. Remove the inner and outer door belt weather-strips.
  4.  
  5. Loosen the inner belt stabilizer.
  6.  
  7. Lower the door glass to the bottom of travel to access the glass attachment bolts.
  8.  
  9. Remove the bolts holding the regulator lift channel to the door glass.

  1. Remove the bolts holding the rear guide plate from the door glass.
  2.

  1. Separate the rear guide plate from the door glass.
  2.  
  3. Lift the door glass upward and out of the opening at the top of the door.

  1. Remove the front guide plate from the door glass.
  2.  

To install:
  1. Install the front guide plate-to-door glass.
  2.  
  3. Carefully lower the door glass through the opening in the top of the door.
  4.  
  5. Place the rear guide plate on the glass and install the bolts.
  6.  
  7. Install the nuts holding the regulator lift channel to the glass.
  8.  
  9. Tighten all door glass fasteners securely.
  10.  
  11. Tighten the window inner belt stabilizer.
  12.  
  13. Install the inner and outer weather-strips.
  14.  
  15. Install the water shield and door trim panel.
  16.  
  17. Operate the window and check for interference. Adjust glass as necessary.
  18.  

4-DOOR VEHICLES

See Figure 4

  1. Remove the door trim panel and water shield.
  2.  
  3. Remove the inner door belt weather-strip.
  4.  
  5. Lower the window to the bottom of the door to get access to the attaching bolts.
  6.  
  7. Remove the bolts holding the door glass to the window regulator lift plates.
  8.  
  9. Disengage the door glass from the regulator.
  10.  
  11. Carefully lift the door glass upward out of the opening at the top of the door.

To install:
  1. Carefully lower the glass through the opening in the top of the door.
  2.  
  3. Position the door glass into the window regulator lift plates.
  4.  
  5. Install the bolts securing the door glass to the lift plates.
  6.  
  7. Tighten the inner belt stabilizer.
  8.  
  9. Install the weather-strip.
  10.  
  11. Install the water shield and door trim panel.
  12.  
  13. Operate the window and check for interference. Adjust glass as necessary.
  14.  

Rear Door Glass

See Figure 5

  1. Remove the door trim panel and water shield.
  2.  
  3. Remove the inner door belt weather-strip.
  4.  
  5. Loosen the door glass jounce bumper.
  6.  
  7. Lower the glass to the bottom of the door.
  8.  
  9. Remove the nuts holding the door glass to the window regulator lift plate.
  10.  
  11. Disengage the door glass from the regulator.
  12.  
  13. Carefully lift the door glass upward and out of the opening at the top of the door.

To install:
  1. Carefully lower the glass through the opening in the top of the door and into position in the window regulator.
  2.  
  3. Install nuts securing the door glass to the window regulator.
  4.  
  5. Raise the glass and tighten the window inner belt stabilizer.
  6.  
  7. Install the inner door belt weather-strip, water shield and door trim panel.
  8.  
  9. Operate the window and check for interference. Adjust glass as necessary.
  10.  

Adjustments

Front Door

See Figures 6, 7 and 8

UP-STOP ADJUSTMENTS
  1. Remove the door trim panel.
  2.  
  3. If necessary for access to the adjusters, remove the water shield.
  4.  
  5. Loosen the up-stop nut.
  6.  
  7. Close the door, then raise the door glass.
  8.  
  9. Adjust the up-stop to achieve the proper glass height.
  10.  
  11. Adjust the glass so that a piece of paper can be pulled between the glass and weather-strip with some tension.
  12.  

The top edge of the door glass should be beneath the lip of the weather-strip.

TOP OF GLASS-INBOARD/OUTBOARD ADJUSTMENTS
  1. Remove the door trim panel.
  2.  
  3. If necessary for access to the adjusters, remove the water shield.
  4.  
  5. Using a suitable flare nut socket, loosen the lower jack-screw jam nuts.
  6.  
  7. Close the door, then raise the window.
  8.  
  9. Using a suitable Allen wrench, rotate the jack screws to achieve a proper in/out positioning at the top edge of the glass.
  10.  
  11. Adjust the glass so that a piece of paper can be pulled between the glass and the weather-strip with some tension.
  12.  
  13. Tighten all fasteners.
  14.  

GLASS-FRONT/REAR ADJUSTMENT
  1. Remove the door trim panel and water shield.
  2.  
  3. Lower the window to the bottom of its travel for access to the glass attachments.
  4.  
  5. Loosen the 3 glass attachment bolts.
  6.  
  7. Raise the glass to the top of its travel and adjust the glass to fit the B-pillar seal. The glass-to-B-pillar appliqué should be about 1 / 2 in. (13mm).
  8.  
  9. Tighten the 2 accessible glass fasteners in the full up position.
  10.  
  11. Lower the window to the full down position, then tighten the remaining glass fastener. Raise the glass to the top of its travel, then check positioning.

Rear Door

UP-STOP ADJUSTMENTS
  1. Remove the door trim panel.
  2.  
  3. If necessary for access to the adjusters, remove the water shield.
  4.  
  5. Using a suitable flare nut socket, loosen the up-stop eccentric jam-nut.
  6.  
  7. Using a suitable hex wrench to rotate the up-stop eccentric to get the proper glass height.
  8.  
  9. Adjust the glass so that a piece of paper can be pulled between the glass and the weather-strip with some tension.

TOP OF GLASS-INBOARD/OUTBOARD ADJUSTMENTS
  1. Remove the door trim panel.
  2.  
  3. If necessary for access to the adjusters, remove the water shield.
  4.  
  5. Using a suitable flare nut socket, loosen the lower jack-screw jam nuts.
  6.  
  7. Using a hex wrench, rotate the jack-screws to achieve proper tensioner at the top of the glass.
  8.  
  9. Adjust the glass so that a piece of paper can be pulled between the glass and the weather-strip with some tension.
