Windshield Wiper Motor

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



See Figures 1 through 10

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the wiper arm and blade assemblies, as outlined earlier in this section.
  4.  
  5. Remove the rear hood seal with the cowl top plastic screen.
  6.

  1. Detach the motor wire connector at the front plenum wall.

  1. Remove the wiper module retainers.
  2.

  1. Remove the ground strap bolt, then remove the strap and position it out of the way.

  1. Remove the wiper motor and linkage from the vehicle.
  2.  
  3. If necessary, you can separate the motor from the linkage as follows:
    1. Remove the linkage from the motor crank.
    2.  
    3. Insert a prytool between the crank and the linkage, then twist the prytool and lift straight up on the linkage.
    4.  
    5. Remove the motor mounting screws, then remove the motor.

  5. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
  6.  
  7. Make sure to lubricate the socket with multi-purpose grease.
  8.  
  9. Observe the following specifications during installation:
    1. Tighten the motor mounting screws to 45-55 inch lbs. (5-6 Nm).
    2.  
    3. Tighten the drive link nut to 8-9 ft. lbs. (11-12 Nm).
    4.  
    5. Tighten the module mounting screws to 60-80 inch lbs. (7-9 Nm).
