Chrysler RAM50/D50/Arrow 1979-1993 Repair Guide

Voltage Regulator

In all cases, the solid-state voltage regulator is contained within the alternator. This allows compact, efficient design and function. However, because of individual parts costs and the complexity of disassembling and reassembling the alternator, it would be both economically advantageous and time efficient to replace the entire alternator when the regulator malfunctions.

All voltage regulators are internal electronic type. The ampere rating is from 45-75 amps depending on year, model and engine. The regulated voltage is 14.1-14.7 volts on all models.
