See Figures 1, 2, 3 and 4

When jacking the vehicle, make sure the transmission is in Park (automatic) or in gear (manual), the parking brake is engaged, and the wheels left on the ground are blocked.

To raise the vehicle:

  1. Place the transmission in Park, if automatic, or in Neutral, if manual. Apply the parking brake and block the wheels not been lifted off the ground.
  2.
  3. Locate the correct jacking points on the frame of the vehicle, slide the floor jack under this position and raise the jacking pad on the jack slowly. When the jacking pad makes contact with the frame, check to make sure the pad is squarely under the jacking point.
  4.
  5. Raise the vehicle slowly off the ground, keeping watch for any instability of the vehicle. If the vehicle starts to move or wobble, lower it to the ground and make sure the brakes are applied, the wheels are blocked and the jack is securely under the frame jacking point.
  6.
  7. Continue to raise the vehicle until there is enough room under the vehicle, so that the jackstands will fit under the vehicle's frame. Set the jackstands in place, making sure that the jackstands are squarely under the correct frame jacking points, and secure the jackstands' height.
  8.

CAUTION
Securing the jackstands' height is very important, otherwise the jackstands could break or shift under the full weight of the vehicle and personal injury or even death could result.

  1. Slowly lower the vehicle onto the jackstands and make sure that the vehicle is stable. If the vehicle is not stable, raise it again and reposition the jackstands to offer a more secure base.
  2.

To lower the vehicle:
  1. Raise the vehicle with the floor jack until the weight of the vehicle is off the jackstands and there is enough to remove the jackstands from underneath the vehicle.
  2.
  3. Cautiously remove the jackstands from their positions under the vehicle.
  4.
  5. Slowly lower the vehicle to the ground.
  6.
