When the battery voltage is low, no detection of component failure is possible. Be sure to check the battery for voltage and other conditions before starting the test.
 
The diagnostic item is erased if the battery or the ECM connector is disconnected. Do not disconnect the battery before the diagnostic results are completely read.
 

  1. Connect the analog voltmeter to the diagnostic output terminal 1 and the ground terminal 12 of the data link connector (white). The data link connector is located under the far left-hand side dashboard console, underneath of the fuse board.
  2.  
  3. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
  4.  
  5. Check the swing of the voltmeter pointer and read the diagnostic output.
  6.  
  7. Repair the problem location, referring to the diagnostic chart.
  8.
