Stabilizer Bar (Sway Bar) & Links

Removal & Installation



  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Raise and support the vehicle.
  4.  
  5. Remove the front wheels.
  6.  
  7. Remove the rear transaxle mount.
  8.  
  9. Remove the steering gear.
  10.  
  11. Disconnect the control links from the Stabilizer bar.

  13. Remove the stabilizer bar mounting clamp bolts and clamps from both sides of the vehicle.
  14.  
  15. Remove the bushings from the stabilizer bar.
  16.  
  17. Lift and rotate the stabilizer bar up and to the right.
  18.  
  19. Carefully remove the stabilizer bar from the right side of the vehicle.
  20.  
  21. Disconnect the stabilizer link from the strut assembly and remove from the vehicle.
  22.  

To install:

  1. Connect the stabilizer link to the strut assembly. Tighten the stabilizer link nut to 48 ft. lbs. (65 Nm).
  2.  
  3. Move the stabilizer bar into position from the right side of the vehicle.
  4.  
  5. Install the stabilizer bushings on the stabilizer bar with the cut line facing rearward.
  6.  
  7. Install the stabilizer bar clamps and bolts. Tighten the bolts to 37 ft. lbs. (50 Nm).
  8.  
  9. Connect the control links to the Stabilizer bar. Tighten the stabilizer link nut to 59 ft. lbs. (80 Nm).
  10.  
  11. Install the steering gear.
  12.  
  13. Install the rear transaxle mount.
  14.  
  15. Install the front wheels.
  16.  
  17. Lower the vehicle.
