Shock Absorbers

Removal & Installation



  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Raise and support the vehicle.
  4.  
  5. Remove the wheel.

  7. Support the rear axle with a tall jackstand near the shock absorber.
  8.  
  9. Remove the upper and lower shock bolts.
  10.  
  11. Remove the shock from the vehicle.
  12.  

To install:

  1. Position the shock absorber to the vehicle.
  2.  
  3. Install NEW upper and lower shock bolts. Tighten the upper bolt to 66 ft. lbs. (90 Nm). Tighten the lower bolt to 81 ft. lbs. (110 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Remove the jackstand.
  6.  
  7. Install the wheel.
  8.  
  9. Lower the vehicle.
  10.  

Testing & Inspection



  1. Check the rubber parts for damage or deterioration.
  2.  
  3. Check the shock absorber for abnormal resistance or unusual sounds.
  4.  
  5. Check for oil seepage around seals.
  6.  
  7. Replace as needed.
  8.
