Removal & Installation



  1. Remove the negative battery cable from the battery.
  2.  
  3. Install a brake pedal prop rod.
  4.  
  5. Siphon the master cylinder.
  6.  
  7. Remove the primary brake line at the master cylinder.
  8.  
  9. Remove the primary brake line from the Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU.
  10.  
  11. Remove the secondary brake line at the master cylinder.
  12.  
  13. Remove the secondary brake line at the HCU.
  14.  
  15. Remove the 4 chassis lines at the HCU.

  17. Disconnect the HCU electrical connector.
  18.  
  19. Remove the mounting nuts at the HCU bracket.
  20.  
  21. Remove the HCU with the bracket from the vehicle.

  23. Remove the 3 ABM bolts securing the ABM to the HCU.

To install:

  1. Install the 3 ABM mounting bolts to the HCU if removed. Tighten the mounting bolts to 9 ft. lbs. (12 Nm).
  2.  
  3. Install the HCU with bracket to the vehicle and tighten the 2 mounting nuts.
  4.  
  5. Install the 4 chassis lines at the HCU.
  6.  
  7. Install the secondary brake line at the HCU.
  8.  
  9. Install the secondary brake line at the master cylinder.
  10.  
  11. Install the primary brake line at the HCU.
  12.  
  13. Install the primary brake line at the master cylinder.
  14.  
  15. Reconnect the HCU electrical connector.
  16.  
  17. Install negative battery cable to the battery.
  18.  
  19. Remove the brake pedal prop rod.
  20.  
  21. Bleed base and ABS brake systems.
  22.
