Wheel Speed Sensors

Removal & Installation



Front
  1. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  2.  
  3. Remove the front wheel.
  4.  
  5. Remove the brake caliper mounting bolts.
    WARNING
    Support the brake caliper with mechanics wire. Do not let the caliper hang by the brake hose.

  6.  
  7. Remove the brake rotor.
  8.  
  9. Remove the front wheel speed sensor mounting nut and remove the speed sensor from the hub.
  10.  
  11. Disconnect the sensor wire routing clips.
  12.  
  13. Disconnect the speed sensor electrical connector.

To install:

  1. Reconnect the speed sensor electrical connector.
  2.  
  3. Reconnect the speed sensor wire to the routing clips.
  4.  
  5. Install the speed sensor to the hub and tighten the mounting nut to 106-124 inch lbs. (12-14 Nm).
    NOTE
    Ensure the speed sensor wire is not kinked or twisted at any spot.

  6.  
  7. Install the brake rotor.
  8.  
  9. Install the brake caliper and tighten the mounting bolts to 66-85 ft. lbs. (90-115 Nm).
  10.  
  11. Install the front wheel.
  12.  
  13. Lower the vehicle.
  14.  

Rear
  1. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  2.  
  3. Remove the rear wheel.
  4.  
  5. Remove the speed sensor mounting bolt from the rear support plate.
  6.  
  7. Pull out the speed sensor from the support plate and disconnect the electrical connector.

To install:

  1. Install the speed sensor through the support plate and tighten the mounting bolt to 106-124 inch lbs. (12-14 Nm).
  2.  
  3. Reconnect the speed sensor electrical connector.
    NOTE
    Ensure the speed sensor wire is securely mounted in the routing clips and clear of any rotating components.

  4.  
  5. Install the rear wheel.
  6.  
  7. Lower the vehicle.
