3.7L & 4.7L Engines



  1. Drain the cooling system.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the sensor electrical connector.
  4.  
  5. Remove the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor.
  6.  

To install:

  1. Apply thread sealant to the sensor threads.
  2.  
  3. Install the ECT sensor into the engine block and tighten the mounting bolt to 8 ft. lbs. (11 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Connect the electrical connector.
  6.  
  7. Refill the cooling system to the correct level.
  8.  

5.7L Engine



  1. Drain the cooling system.
  2.  
  3. Remove the accessory drive belt.
  4.  
  5. Carefully unbolt the A/C compressor. Temporarily support the compressor to access the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor.
    NOTE
    It is not necessary to disconnect the A/C lines from the compressor.

  6.  
  7. Disconnect the sensor electrical connector.
  8.  
  9. Remove the ECT sensor from the engine block.

To install:

  1. Apply thread sealant to the sensor threads.
  2.  
  3. Install the sensor into the engine block and tighten the mounting bolt to 8 ft. lbs. (11 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Connect the electrical connector.
  6.  
  7. Position the A/C compressor into place and tighten the mounting bolts.
  8.  
  9. Install the accessory drive belt.
  10.  
  11. Refill the cooling system to the correct level.
