Throttle Body

Removal & Installation



3.7L Engine
  1. Remove the air intake assembly from the throttle body.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the throttle body electrical connectors at Idle Air Control (IAC) motor and Throttle Position Sensor (TPS).
  4.  
  5. Remove all control cables from throttle body (lever) arm.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect any necessary vacuum lines from the throttle body.
  8.  
  9. Remove the three throttle body mounting bolts.
  10.  
  11. Remove the throttle body from intake manifold.

To install:

  1. Inspect the condition of the throttle body O-ring and replace if necessary.
  2.  
  3. Clean the mating surfaces of the throttle body and intake manifold.
  4.  
  5. Install the throttle body to the intake manifold and tighten the mounting bolts to 105 inch lbs. (12 Nm).
  6.  
  7. Install the control cables.
  8.  
  9. Install the electrical connectors.
  10.  
  11. Install the necessary vacuum lines.
  12.  
  13. Install the air intake assembly.
  14.  

  1. Remove the air intake assembly from the throttle body.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the throttle body electrical connector.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect any necessary vacuum lines from the throttle body.
  6.  
  7. Remove the four throttle body mounting bolts.
  8.  
  9. Remove the throttle body from the intake manifold.

To install:

  1. Inspect the condition of the throttle body O-ring and replace if necessary.
  2.  
  3. Clean the mating surfaces of the throttle body and intake manifold.
  4.  
  5. Install the throttle body to the intake manifold and tighten the mounting bolts to 60 inch lbs. (7 Nm).
  6.  
  7. Install the electrical connector.
  8.  
  9. Install the necessary vacuum lines.
  10.  
  11. Install the air intake assembly.
  12.  

4.7L Engine
  1. Remove the air duct and air resonator box at the throttle body.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the throttle body electrical connectors at Idle Air Control (IAC) motor and Throttle Position Sensor (TPS).
  4.  
  5. Remove the vacuum line at throttle body.
  6.  
  7. Remove all control cables from throttle body (lever) arm.
  8.  
  9. Remove the three throttle body mounting bolts.
  10.  
  11. Remove throttle body from intake manifold.
  12.  

To install:

  1. Clean throttle body-to-intake manifold O-ring.
  2.  
  3. Clean mating surfaces of throttle body and intake manifold.
  4.  
  5. Install throttle body to intake manifold by positioning throttle body to manifold alignment pins.
  6.  
  7. Install three mounting bolts. Tighten bolts to 105 in. lbs. (12 Nm).
  8.  
  9. Install control cables.
  10.  
  11. Install vacuum line to throttle body.
  12.  
  13. Install the sensor electrical connectors.
  14.  
  15. Install air duct/air box at throttle body.
  16.  

5.7L Engine

CAUTION
Do not use spray (carburetor) cleaners on any part of the throttle body. Do not apply silicone lubricants to any part of the throttle body.

  1. Remove the air duct and air resonator box at throttle body.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the electrical connector at throttle body.
  4.  
  5. Remove the four throttle body mounting bolts.
  6.  
  7. Remove the throttle body from intake manifold.
  8.  

To install:


CAUTION
Do not use spray (carburetor) cleaners on any part of the throttle body. Do not apply silicone lubricants to any part of the throttle body.

  1. Clean and check condition of throttle body-to-intake manifold O-ring.
  2.  
  3. Clean mating surfaces of throttle body and intake manifold.
  4.  
  5. Install the throttle body to intake manifold by positioning throttle body to manifold alignment pins.
  6.  
  7. Install the four mounting bolts.
  8.  
  9. Connect the electrical connector.
  10.  
  11. Install the air duct and box.
  12.  
  13. A Scan Tool may be used to learn electrical parameters.
  14.  
  15. If the previous step is not performed, a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) will be set.
  16.  
  17. If necessary, use a scan tool to erase any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) from PCM.
