Removal & Installation

3.7L & 4.7L Engines



  1. Siphon the fluid from the power steering reservoir.
  2.  
  3. Remove the cooler return hose at the reservoir.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the pressure hose nut at the pump.
  6.  
  7. Remove the pressure hose at the pump.
  8.  
  9. Remove the accessory drive belt.
  10.  
  11. Remove the three power steering pump mounting bolts.
  12.  

To install:

  1. Install the power steering pump mounting bolts and tighten to 21 ft. lbs. (28 Nm).
  2.  
  3. Install the accessory drive belt.
  4.  
  5. Install the pressure hose on the pump and tighten the nut to 21 ft. lbs. (28 Nm).
  6.  
  7. Install the cooler return hose at the reservoir.
  8.  
  9. Add power steering fluid as necessary.
  10.  
  11. Bleed the power steering system.
  12.  

5.7L Engine



  1. Siphon the fluid from the power steering reservoir.
  2.  
  3. Remove the air intake assembly.
  4.  
  5. Remove the accessory drive belt.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the power steering pump supply hose.
  8.  
  9. Disconnect the pressure line at the pump.
  10.  
  11. Remove the pump mounting bolts and remove the pump.
  12.  

To install:

  1. Position the pump to the engine and tighten the mounting bolts to 21 ft. lbs. (28 Nm).
  2.  
  3. Install the pressure hose on the pump and tighten the nut to 21 ft. lbs. 28 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Reconnect the supply hose.
  6.  
  7. Install the accessory drive belt.
  8.  
  9. Install the air intake assembly.
  10.  
  11. Fill the system with power steering fluid.
  12.  
  13. Bleed the power steering system.
  14.
