Main Bearing Torque Sequence



3.7L Engine

Torque the bolts in the sequence shown.

  1. Hand tighten bolts 1D, 1G and 1F until the bedplate contacts the block.
  2.  
  3. Tighten bolts 1A-1J to 40 ft. lbs. (54 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Tighten bolts 1- 8 to 62 inch lbs. (7 Nm).
  6.  
  7. Turn bolts 1-8 an additional 90°.
  8.  
  9. Tighten bolts A - E 20 ft. lbs. (27 Nm).

4.7L Engine

Torque the bolts in the sequence shown.

  1. Tighten bolts A-L to 40 ft. lbs. (54 Nm).
  2.  
  3. Tighten bolts 1-10 to 25 inch lbs. (2.8 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Turn bolts 1-10 an additional 90°.
  6.  
  7. Tighten bolts A1-A6 to 20 ft. lbs. (27 Nm).

5.7L Engine

Alternately tighten in two steps using the following sequence:

  1. 20 ft. lbs. (27 Nm)
  2.  
  3. Turn main cap bolts an additional 90°.
