Latch

NOTE
Before adjusting the hood latch mechanism, make sure the hood is properly aligned.

  1. Loosen the hood latch attaching bolts until they are just loose enough to move the latch.
  2.
  3. Move the latch side-to-side to align it with the opening in the hood inner panel.
  4.
  5. Loosen the locknut on the 2 hood bumpers and lower the bumpers.
  6.
  7. Move the hood latch up or down as required to obtain a flush fit between the top of the hood and fenders when an upward pressure is applied to the front of the hood. Tighten the hood latch attaching screws to 7-10 ft. lbs. (9-14 Nm).
  8.
  9. Raise the 2 hood bumpers to eliminate any looseness at the front of the hood when closed. Tighten the hood bumper locknut.
  10.
  11. Open and close the hood several times, to check operation.
