Fabric upholstery can usually be cleaned with a vacuum cleaner. If heavier cleaning is necessary, use a fabric cleaner for automotive interiors. These can usually be found at your local parts store, at the hardware store in the auto section, or even at the dealership. Read the label to ensure you do not end up causing damage to the fabric you are trying to clean.
If you have a leather interior, you should know that it requires special care and cleaning techniques. Use regular leather cleaner made for the purpose. Also, use a leather conditioner to help keep the leather soft and supple. Leather surfaces will age quickly and can crack if not taken care of properly.
Dashboard, Console, Door Panels, Etc.
The dashboard, console, door panels, and other plastic, vinyl, or wood-grain surfaces can be cleaned using a mild detergent on a damp cloth. Keep water away from electrical devices (Window switches, door lock switches).
If you are intent on using protectants on the interior of your vehicle, it is not recommended for the dashboard. The shine that may be placed on your dashboard could cause a glare that could affect your driving ability.
Floor Mats And Carpets
The floor of the vehicle should be vacuumed or brushed regularly. If possible, remove the floor mats to clean under them. It also helps to shake the dirt from the floor mats. There are special cleaners available to help you keep the floor clean.
