Removal & Installation



Glass & Regulator
  1. Remove the door trim panel and watershield.
  2.  
  3. Loosen the glass run retainer retaining screw and position the retainer forward.
  4.  
  5. Lower the glass to gain access to the 2 glass bracket rivets. Position a suitable block support between the door outer panel and the glass bracket to stabilize the glass during rivet removal.
  6.  
  7. Remove the center pins from the rivets using a drift punch. Drill out the remainder of the rivets using a 1 / 4 in. diameter drill.
  8.  


WARNING
Do not attempt to pry out the rivets as damage to the glass could result.

  1. Remove the glass.
  2.  

To install:

  1. Insert the glass into the door between the outer belt weather-strip and inner panel.
  2.  
  3. Position the glass into the doorframe and lower the window to align with the regulator bracket.
  4.  
  5. Install two 1 / 4 in. blind rivets. Two 1 / 4 -20 x 1 in. screw, washer and nut assemblies can also be used. Tighten the screws to no more than 7-10 ft. lbs. (9-14 Nm).
  6.  
  7. Adjust the door glass as follows:
    1. Loosen, but do not remove, the upper regulator retaining nuts.
    2.  
    3. Raise the glass to the full-up position and tighten the nuts to 7-10 ft. lbs. (9-14 Nm).
    4.  
    5. Loosen, but do not remove, the front glass run retainer bolt.
    6.  
    7. Lower the glass to the full down position and tighten the run retainer bolt to 7-10 ft. lbs. (9-14 Nm).

  9. Install the door trim panel and watershield.

Motor
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the door trim panel and watershield.
  4.  
  5. Detach the motor wires at the multiple connector.
  6.  
  7. Remove the motor retaining screws using Torx® drive bit set D79P-2100-T or equivalent, and separate the motor from the bracket and cable drum housing.
  8.  
  9. Remove the motor from inside the door.
  10.  

To install:

  1. Position the motor and drive to the cable drum housing and motor mounting bracket. Install the 3 motor screws and tighten.
  2.  
  3. Connect the power window motor wiring.
  4.  
  5. Connect the negative battery cable.
  6.  
  7. Check window operation.
  8.  
  9. Install the watershield and door trim panel.
  10.  

Regulator
Down & Inoperable Window
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the door trim panel and watershield.
  4.  
  5. Remove the motor retaining screws through the holes.
  6.  


WARNING
Be careful not to strike or scratch the glass, as it could break.

  1. Remove the motor assembly from the drum housing.
  2.  
  3. Raise the glass to the full-up position by hand and secure with a clamp.
  4.  
  5. Remove the regulator as outlined in the previous procedure.
  6.  

To install:

  1. Install the regulator as described in the previous procedure.
  2.  
  3. Assemble the motor drive assembly to the drum housing. Align the mounting holes in the motor with the holes in the drum housing.
  4.  
  5. Align the motor drive assembly to the mounting bracket.
  6.  
  7. Install the 3 retaining screws to the mounting bracket.
  8.  
  9. Connect the motor wire to the harness.
  10.  
  11. Connect the negative battery cable.
  12.  
  13. Remove the clamp and check window operation.
  14.  
  15. Install the watershield and door trim panel.
  16.  

Operational Window
  1. Remove the door trim panel and watershield.
  2.  
  3. Remove the door glass.
  4.  
  5. Detach the power window motor wiring connector.
  6.  
  7. Remove the two 1 / 4 in. rivets attaching the lower bracket of the regulator to the inner panel. Use a drift punch to knock out the center pins, then drill out the remainder of the rivet with a 1 / 4 in. diameter drill. Be careful not to enlarge the sheet metal holes in the door inner panel.
  8.  
  9. Remove the 3 motor retaining screws from inside the door to remove the motor from the bracket assembly.
  10.  
  11. Remove the 2 upper regulator retaining nuts and remove the regulator from the door.
  12.  

To install:

  1. Apply an even coating of multi-purpose grease to the window regulator rollers, shafts and the entire length of the roller guides.
  2.  
  3. Install the regulator into the access hole in the inner panel.
  4.  
  5. Position the regulator using the upper regulator studs and tabs on the motor mounting bracket.
  6.  
  7. Install the rivets attaching the regulator to the door inner panel. Two 1 / 4 in.-20 x1 / 2 in. screw and washer assemblies and 1 / 4 in.-20 nut and washer assemblies can also be used.
  8.  
  9. Install the 2 upper regulator retaining nuts. Install the motor, being careful not to overtighten the screws.
  10.  
  11. Install and adjust the door glass.
  12.  
  13. Install the watershield and door trim panel.
  14.
