PID is an acronym for Parameter Identification Data. It is used to identify PCM related items on both OEM and aftermarket Scan Tools. The PID Data or data stream items available for display include:
To view PID Data on a Scan Tool, connect the Scan Tool to the vehicle connector; then identify the vehicle by following the setup instructions, and select Data Stream or Parameter from the menu.

This Section can be used to look up PID Data so that you can compare the "known good" values to the actual values you see on the Scan Tool display. To locate the PID Data, find the model, correct engine size (with VIN Code) and finally the year of the vehicle.
