  12.
  13. Disconnect the compressor clutch electrical connector.
  14.
  15. Remove the compressor hose to compressor retaining bolt.
  16.
  17. Disconnect the compressor hose from the compressor, discard the seal washers and cap or tape the hose end to prevent contamination.
  18.
  19. Remove the compressor mounting nut.
  20.
  21. Fully loosen the compressor mounting stud.
  22.
  23. Remove the compressor mounting bolts.
  24.
  25. Remove the compressor and the mounting stud from the vehicle.
  26.
  27. Remove the compressor mounting stud from the compressor.
  28.

To install:

  1. If installing a replacement compressor, drain as much of the oil as possible from the replacement compressor, then replenish with the proper amount as indicated
  2.
  3. Drain the oil from both the suction and discharge ports of the replacement compressor into a clean container.
  4.
  5. Remove the compressor crankcase oil drain bolt and drain the crankcase oil from the replacement compressor into the same clean container.
  6.
  7. Add the proper amount of NEW oil to the replacement compressor: If less than 30 ml (1 oz) of oil was drained from the removed compressor, add 60 ml (2 oz) of new oil to the replacement compressor. If more than 30 ml (1 oz) of oil was drained from the removed compressor, add the same amount of new oil to the replacement compressor.
  8.
  9. Install the compressor crankcase oil drain bolt to the replacement compressor and tighten to 15 ft. lbs. (20 Nm).
  10.
  11. Install the compressor mounting stud to the compressor.
  12.
  13. Install the compressor into position on the compressor mounting bracket.
  14.
  15. Install the compressor mounting stud to the engine block.
  16.
  17. Install the compressor mounting bolt in the upper, forward position (net locating hole).
  18.
  19. Install the remaining compressor mounting bolts.
  20.
  21. Tighten the compressor mounting bolts top 30 ft. lbs. (40 Nm) in the following sequence: Front upper, first. front lower, second and rear lower last.
  22.
  23. Tighten the compressor mounting stud to 80 inch lbs. (9 Nm).
  24.
  25. Install the compressor mounting nut and tighten to 30 ft. lbs. (40 Nm).
  26.
  27. Remove the cap or tape from the compressor hose end.
  28.
  29. Using a lint-free clean, dry cloth, carefully clean the sealing surfaces of the compressor hose and the compressor.
  30.
  31. Lightly coat the new seal washers with mineral base 525 viscosity refrigerant oil.
  32.
  33. Carefully slide the new seal washers onto the compressor hose until seated.
  34.
  35. Install the compressor hose to the compressor.
  36.
  37. Install the compressor hose to compressor retaining bolt.
  38.
  39. Tighten the compressor hose to compressor retaining bolt to 19 ft. lbs. (26 Nm).
  40.
  41. Connect the compressor clutch electrical connector.
  42.
  43. Install the water pump.
  44.
  45. Install the accessory and compressor drive belts.
  46.
  47. Connect the negative battery cable.
  48.
  49. Install the battery heat shield.
  50.
  51. Refill the cooling system.
  52.
  53. Evacuate and charge the refrigerant system.
  54.
  55. Check the compressor hose to compressor joint and the compressor for leaks.
  56.
