Lower Control Arms

Removal & Installation



  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Front wheel
     
    Front transverse spring
     
    Wheel Speed Sensor (WSS) electrical connector
     
    Real Time Damping (RTD) electrical connector, if equipped
     

  4.  
  5. Support the lower control arm with a jack stand

    Shock absorber from the lower control arm
     
    Stabilizer shaft link from the lower control arm
     
    Ball joint stud from the knuckle
     
    Cam bolts, washers and nuts after matchmarking them
     
    Lower control arm from the vehicle

To install:

  1. Install or connect the following:

    Lower control arm
     

  2.  
  3. Support the lower control arm with a jack stand

    Cam bolts to the position matchmarked during the removal procedure and hand-tighten the bolts
     
    Lower control arm ball joint stud to the steering knuckle and torque the nut to 20 ft. lbs. (30 Nm) plus an additional 180 degrees
     
    Stabilizer shaft link to the lower control arm and torque the nut to 53 ft. lbs. (72 Nm)
     
    Transverse spring and remove
     
    Shock absorber lower mounting bolts and torque them to 21 ft. lbs. (28 Nm)
     
    RTD electrical connector, if equipped
     
    WSS electrical connector
     
    Front wheel
     
    Negative battery cable
     

  4.  
  5. Perform a front wheel alignment.
  6.  
  7. Tighten the lower control arm nuts to 125 ft. lbs. (170 Nm).
  8.  

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Remove or disconnect the following:
    NOTE
    Important: Z06, any time the lower control arms are removed, the lower control arm-to-crossmember cam bolts must be replaced.



    Front wheel
     
    Front transverse spring
     
    Wheel Speed Sensor (WSS) electrical connector
     
    Disconnect the electronic suspension control electrical connector from the shock, if equipped
     



    Shock absorber from the lower control arm
     
    Stabilizer shaft link from the lower control arm
     
    Ball joint stud from the knuckle
     
    Cam bolts, washers and nuts after matchmarking them
     



    Lower control arm from the vehicle

  4.  

To install:

  1. Install or connect the following:

    Lower control arm
     



    Align cam bolts to the position matchmarked during the removal procedure and hand-tighten the bolts
     
    Lower control arm ball joint stud to the steering knuckle and torque the nut to 20 ft. lbs. (30 Nm) plus an additional 180 degrees
     
    Stabilizer shaft link to the lower control arm and torque the nut to 53 ft. lbs. (72 Nm)
     
    Transverse spring
     
    Shock absorber lower mounting bolts and torque them to 21 ft. lbs. (28 Nm)
     
    Connect the electronic suspension control electrical connector from the shock, if equipped
     
    WSS electrical connector
     
    Front wheel
     
    Negative battery cable
     

  2.  
  3. Perform a front wheel alignment.
  4.  
  5. Tighten the lower control arm nuts to 125 ft. lbs. (170 Nm).
