Removal & Installation

  1. Place a drain pan under the vehicle.
  2.  
  3. Remove the dipstick from the power steering fluid reservoir.
  4.  
  5. Remove the power steering fluid reservoir from the reservoir bracket.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the return and supply hoses and cap the openings.
  8.  
  9. Remove the reservoir.
  10.  

To install:

  1. Install the power steering fluid reservoir to the vehicle.
    NOTE
    Make sure that the alignment mark on the power steering return hose is installed at the bottom of the power steering reservoir.

  2.  
  3. Install the return and supply lines to the reservoir.
  4.  
  5. Install the reservoir to the reservoir bracket.
  6.  
  7. Bleed the power steering system.
  8.  

  1. Remove the drive belt.
  2.  
  3. Remove the brake pressure modulator valve (BPMV).

  5. Remove the BPMV bracket.
  6.  
  7. Remove the power steering fluid reservoir.

  9. Remove the power steering pump pulley.
    1. Install the puller J-25034-C or equivalent, on the power steering pump pulley and remove the pulley.
    2.  

  10.  
  11. Remove the power steering reservoir outlet pipe/hose from the power steering pump.
  12.  
  13. Remove the power steering pressure hose from the power steering pump.
  14.  
  15. Remove the power steering pump mounting bolts from the power steering pump.
  16.  
  17. Remove the power steering pump front bracket.
  18.  
  19. Remove the steering pump.
  20.  

To install:

  1. Install the following components to the power steering pump rear bracket:
    1. The power steering pump
    2.  
    3. The power steering pump front bracket
    4.  

  2.  
  3. Install the power steering pump mounting bolts to the power steering pump.
    1. Tighten the bolts to 18 ft. lbs.(25 Nm).
    2.  

  4.  
  5. Install the power steering reservoir outlet pipe/hose to the power steering pump.
    1. Tighten the fitting to 20ft. lbs.(27 Nm).
    2.  

  6.  
  7. Install the power steering pressure hose to the power steering pump.
    1. Tighten the fitting to 20ft. lbs.(27 Nm).
    2.  

  8.  
  9. Install the power steering pump pulley.
    1. Using special tool J-25033-C or equivalent, install the power steering pump pulley onto the power steering pump.
      NOTE
      Important: The pulley must be installed onto pump shaft so that the pulley hub is flush to within 0.010 in (0.25 mm) with the pump shaft.

  11. Install the power steering fluid reservoir.
  12.  
  13. Install the BPMV bracket
  14.  
  15. Install the BPMV.
  16.  
  17. Install the drive belt.
  18.  
  19. Fill with fluid and bleed the power steering system.
  20.
