Removal & Installation

  1. Recover the refrigerant from the A/C system.
  2.  
  3. Drain the cooling system.
  4.  
  5. Remove the A/C condenser.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the radiator inlet hose from the radiator.
    NOTE
    Lift up on the cooling fan and shroud assembly to disengage the tabs from the radiator slots.

  8.  
  9. Remove the cooling fan and shroud assembly from the radiator.
  10.  
  11. Disengage tension and reposition the surge tank inlet hose clamp at the radiator.
  12.  
  13. Disconnect the surge tank inlet hose from the radiator.
  14.  
  15. Vehicles equipped with a transmission oil cooler, disconnect the upper transmission oil cooler line from the radiator.
  16.  
  17. Vehicles equipped with a engine oil cooler, disconnect the upper engine oil cooler line from the radiator.
  18.  
  19. Raise and support the vehicle.
  20.  
  21. Disconnect the radiator outlet hose from the radiator.
  22.  
  23. Vehicles equipped with a transmission oil cooler, disconnect the lower transmission oil cooler line from the radiator.
  24.  
  25. Vehicles equipped a with engine oil cooler, disconnect the lower engine oil cooler line from the radiator.
  26.  
  27. Remove the radiator from the vehicle.
  28.  

To install:

  1. Install the radiator to the vehicle.
  2.  
  3. Raise the vehicle.
  4.  
  5. Vehicles equipped with a engine oil cooler, connect the lower engine oil cooler line to the radiator.
  6.  
  7. Vehicles equipped with a transmission oil cooler, connect the lower transmission oil cooler line to the radiator.
  8.  
  9. Connect the radiator outlet hose to the radiator.
  10.  
  11. Engage tension on the radiator outlet hose clamp at the radiator.
  12.  
  13. Lower the vehicle.
  14.  
  15. Vehicle equipped with a transmission oil cooler, connect the upper transmission oil cooler line to the radiator.
  16.  
  17. Vehicles equipped with a engine oil cooler, connect the upper engine oil cooler line to the radiator.
  18.  
  19. Connect the surge tank inlet hose to the radiator.
  20.  
  21. Engage tension on the surge tank inlet hose clamp at the radiator.
    NOTE
    Lift up on the cooling fan and shroud assembly and engage the tabs to the radiator slots.

  22.  
  23. Install the cooling fan and shroud assembly to the radiator.
  24.  
  25. Connect the radiator inlet hose to the radiator.
  26.  
  27. Install the A/C condenser.
  28.  
  29. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system.
  30.  
  31. Fill the cooling system.
  32.  
  33. Leak test the fittings.
  34.  
  35. Inspect the transmission fluid level on automatic models.
  36.  
  37. Inspect the engine oil level on models equipped with a engine oil cooler.
  38.  
  39. Connect the negative battery cable.
  40.  

5.7L Engine



  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Recover the refrigerant from the A/C system.
  4.  
  5. Drain the cooling system.
  6.  
  7. Remove the fan shroud.
  8.  
  9. Reposition the throttle body heater outlet hose clamp from the radiator.
  10.  
  11. Remove the throttle body heater outlet hose from the radiator.
  12.  
  13. Remove the radiator inlet hose from the water pump.
  14.  
  15. Remove the surge tank inlet hose from the radiator.
  16.  
  17. Remove the connector position assurance lock.
  18.  
  19. Disconnect the mass air flow sensor electrical connector.
  20.  
  21. If equipped, remove the automatic transmission oil cooler lines from the radiator.
  22.  
  23. Remove the condenser from the radiator and position it forward.
  24.  
  25. Remove the radiator from the vehicle.
  26.  

To install:

  1. Install the radiator.
  2.  
  3. Install the condenser into the four retaining tabs on the radiator.
  4.  
  5. If equipped, install the automatic transmission oil cooler lines to the radiator and tighten to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm).
  6.  
  7. Connect the mass air flow sensor electrical connector.
  8.  
  9. Install the connector position assurance lock.
  10.  
  11. Install the surge tank inlet hose to the radiator.
  12.  
  13. Reposition the surge tank inlet hose clamp to the radiator.
  14.  
  15. Install the radiator inlet hose to the water pump.
  16.  
  17. Reposition the radiator inlet hose clamp to the water pump.
  18.  
  19. Install the throttle body heater outlet hose to the radiator.
  20.  
  21. Reposition the throttle body heater outlet hose clamp to the radiator.
  22.  
  23. Install the fan shroud.
  24.  
  25. Fill the cooling system.
  26.  
  27. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system.
  28.  
  29. Leak test the fittings.
  30.  
  31. Inspect the transmission fluid level.
  32.  
  33. Connect the negative battery cable.
  34.  

6.0L Engine



  1. Remove the A/C condenser.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the radiator inlet hose from the radiator.
    NOTE
    Lift up on the cooling fan and shroud assembly to disengage the tabs from the radiator slots.

  4.  
  5. Remove the cooling fan and shroud assembly from the radiator.
  6.  
  7. Disengage tension and reposition the surge tank inlet hose clamp at the radiator.
  8.  
  9. Disconnect the surge tank inlet hose from the radiator.
  10.  
  11. Vehicles equipped with a transmission oil cooler, disconnect the upper transmission oil cooler line from the radiator.
  12.  
  13. Vehicles equipped with a engine oil cooler, disconnect the upper engine oil cooler line from the radiator.
  14.  
  15. Raise and support the vehicle.
  16.  
  17. Disconnect the radiator outlet hose from the radiator.
  18.  
  19. Vehicles equipped with a transmission oil cooler, disconnect the lower transmission oil cooler line from the radiator.
  20.  
  21. Vehicles equipped a with engine oil cooler, disconnect the lower engine oil cooler line from the radiator.
  22.  
  23. Remove the radiator from the vehicle.
  24.  

To install:

  1. Install the radiator to the vehicle.
  2.  
  3. Raise the vehicle.
  4.  
  5. Vehicles equipped with a engine oil cooler, connect the lower engine oil cooler line to the radiator.
  6.  
  7. Vehicles equipped with a transmission oil cooler, connect the lower transmission oil cooler line to the radiator.
  8.  
  9. Connect the radiator outlet hose to the radiator.
  10.  
  11. Engage tension on the radiator outlet hose clamp at the radiator.
  12.  
  13. Lower the vehicle.
  14.  
  15. Vehicle equipped with a transmission oil cooler, connect the upper transmission oil cooler line to the radiator.
  16.  
  17. Vehicles equipped with a engine oil cooler, connect the upper engine oil cooler line to the radiator.
  18.  
  19. Connect the surge tank inlet hose to the radiator.
  20.  
  21. Engage tension on the surge tank inlet hose clamp at the radiator.
    NOTE
    Lift up on the cooling fan and shroud assembly and engage the tabs to the radiator slots.

  22.  
  23. Install the cooling fan and shroud assembly to the radiator.
  24.  
  25. Connect the radiator inlet hose to the radiator.
  26.  
  27. Install the A/C condenser.
  28.  
  29. Fill the cooling system.
  30.  
  31. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system.
  32.  
  33. Leak test the fittings.
  34.  
  35. Inspect the transmission fluid level.
  36.  
  37. Connect the negative battery cable.
