Power Door Locks

Diagnosis & Testing
Automatic Door Locks Inoperative
  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the inoperative door latch assembly.
  2.
  3. Ignition OFF, verify that a test lamp illuminates between B+ and the ground circuit.
    1. If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
    2.

  4.
  5. Ignition ON, verify the scan tool Door Open Switch parameter is CLOSED.
    1. If the scan tool displays OPEN, test the signal circuit for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.
    2.

  6.
  7. Install a 3-A fused jumper wire between the signal circuit and ground. Verify the scan tool door open switch parameter is OPEN.
    1. If not the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.
    2.

  8.
  9. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the inoperative door latch assembly.
  10.

Door Lock Inoperative From Passenger Switch
  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the passenger door lock switch.
  2.
  3. Ignition OFF, verify that a test lamp illuminates between B+ and the ground circuit terminal C.
    1. If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
    2.

  4.
  5. Ignition ON, verify the scan tool Door Lock Switch parameter is IDLE.
    1. If the scan tool displays LOCK, test the signal circuit terminal D for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the PDM.
    2.
    3. If the scan tool displays UNLOCK, test the signal circuit terminal E for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the PDM.
    4.

  6.
  7. Install a 3-A fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal D and ground. Verify the scan tool door lock switch parameter is LOCK.
    1. If not the specified value, test the signal circuit terminal D for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the PDM.
    2.

  8.
  9. Install a 3-A fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal E and ground. Verify the scan tool door lock switch parameter is UNLOCK.
    1. If not the specified value, test the signal circuit terminal E for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the PDM.
    2.

  10.
  11. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the passenger door lock switch.
  12.

Door Locks Inoperative From Driver Switch
  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the driver door lock switch.
  2.

If the circuit tests normal, replace the DDSA.
    2.
    3. If the scan tool displays UNLOCK, test the signal circuit terminal E for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the DDSA.
    4.

  6.
  7. Install a 3-A fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal D and ground. Verify the scan tool door lock switch parameter is LOCK.
    1. If not the specified value, test the signal circuit terminal D for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the DDSA.
    2.

  8.
  9. Install a 3-A fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal E and ground. Verify the scan tool door lock switch parameter is UNLOCK.
    1. If not the specified value, test the signal circuit terminal E for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the DDSA.
    2.

  10.
  11. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the driver door lock switch.
  12.

Removal & Installation
Door Lock Motor

The door control module (motor) is part of the power window regulator and is serviced as an assembly.
