Operation



Except SRT

The MAP sensor monitors the pressure in the intake manifold. The pressure in the manifold moves a diaphragm which is connected to piezo resistors which alter their resistance values. The output voltage of the resistors provides information to the PCM about the pressure in the intake manifold.

SRT

On the supercharged engine, the MAP sensor serves as a PCM input, using a silicon based sensing unit to provide data on the manifold vacuum pressure that draws/pushes the air/fuel mixture into the combustion chambers. The PCM uses this data combined the intake air temperature to determine the volume of air entering the engine.

Removal & Installation



Except SRT
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  4.  
  5. Remove the engine cover.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the sensor electrical connector.
  8.  
  9. Remove the sensor retaining bolt.
  10.  
  11. Remove the sensor from its mounting.
  12.  

To install:

  1. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
  2.  

SRT
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  4.  
  5. Remove the engine cover.
  6.  
  7. Remove the upper air cleaner housing. Remove the lower air cleaner housing.
  8.  
  9. Remove the right and left intake plenums.
  10.  
  11. Remove the throttle body.
  12.  
  13. Remove the supercharger outlet housing hose clamps. Remove the outlet housing.
  14.  
  15. Disconnect the sensor electrical connector.
  16.  
  17. Remove the sensor retaining bolt.
  18.  
  19. Remove the sensor from its mounting.
  20.  

To install:

  1. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
  2.  
  3. Tighten the retaining bolt to 40 inch lbs.
  4.
