Diagnosis & Testing
Body Verification Test
  1. Turn the ignition off.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect all jumper wires and reconnect all previously disconnected components and connectors.
    NOTE
    If the SKREEM or the PCM was replaced, refer to the service information for proper programming procedures.

  4.  
  5. If the Body Control Module was replaced, turn the ignition on for 15 seconds (to allow the new BCM to learn VIN) or engine may not start.
  6.  
  7. Program all RKE transmitters and other options as necessary.
  8.  
  9. With the scan tool, erase all Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) from ALL modules.
  10.  
  11. Start the engine and allow it to run for 2 minutes.
  12.  
  13. Operate all functions of the system that caused the original complaint.
  14.  
  15. Ensure that all accessories are turned off and the battery is fully charged.
  16.  
  17. Turn the ignition off and wait 5 seconds.
  18.  
  19. Turn the ignition on and using the scan tool, read DTCs from ALL modules.
  20.  
  21. If there are any DTCs present, or if the original complaint is still present, repair is not complete, refer to appropriate symptom.
  22.  
  23. If there are no DTCs and the original complaint is no longer present, repair is complete.
  24.  

Both Power Mirrors Inoperative

Possible causes:



Fused B(+) circuit
 
Power mirror switch ground circuit open
 
Power mirror switch
 

Left Power Mirror Horizontal Motor
  1. Turn the ignition off.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the Power Mirror Switch harness connector.
    NOTE
    Check connectors and clean/repair as necessary.

  4.  
  5. Connect a jumper wire between cavity 3 and ground of the Power Mirror Switch harness connector.
  6.  
  7. Turn the ignition on.

  9. Connect a jumper wire between cavity 6 and cavity 7 of the Power Mirror Switch harness connector.
  10.  
  11. With the jumper wires connected, if the Left Power Mirror Horizontal Motor operates, test the Left Power Mirror Vertical Motor. If it does not, measure the Left Power Mirror Horizontal Motor circuit resistance.
  12.  

Left Power Mirror Horizontal Motor Resistance
  1. Turn the ignition off.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect all jumper wires.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the Left Power Mirror pigtail harness connector.
    NOTE
    The Power Mirror pigtail harness connector can be accessed by removing the small square access panel located at the top front corner of the door panel.


    NOTE
    Check connectors - Clean/repair as necessary.

  6.  
  7. Connect a jumper wire between cavity 4 and cavity 5 of the Left Power Mirror pigtail harness connector.

  9. Measure the resistance between cavity 3 and cavity 7 of the Power Mirror Switch harness connector.
  10.  
  11. If the resistance is below 5.0 ohms, replace the Left Power Mirror.
  12.  
  13. If the resistance is 5.0 ohms or greater, repair the Left Power Mirror Horizontal Motor circuit for an open circuit.
  14.  
  15. Perform Body Verification Test.
  16.  

Left Power Mirror Inoperative

Possible causes:



Open left power mirror horizontal motor circuit
 
Open left power mirror vertical motor circuit
 
Left power mirror
 
Power mirror switch
 

Left Power Mirror Verical Motor Resistance
  1. Turn the ignition off.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect all jumper wires.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the Left Power Mirror pigtail harness connector.
    NOTE
    The Power Mirror pigtail harness connector can be accessed by removing the small square access panel located at the top front corner of the door panel.


    NOTE
    Check connectors - Clean/repair as necessary.

  6.  
  7. Connect a jumper wire between cavity 6 and cavity 5 of the Left Power Mirror pigtail harness connector.

  9. Measure the resistance between cavity 3 and cavity 5 of the Power Mirror Switch harness connector.
  10.  
  11. If the resistance is below 5.0 ohms, replace the Left Power Mirror.
  12.  
  13. If the resistance is 5.0 ohms or greater, repair the Left Power Mirror Vertical Motor circuit for an open circuit.
  14.  
  15. Perform Body Verification Test.
  16.  

Left Power Mirror Vertical Motor
  1. With the ignition on and the jumper wire between cavity 3 and ground of the Power Mirror Switch harness connector still connected, disconnect the jumper wire from cavity 7 and connect it to cavity 5 of the Power Mirror Switch harness connector.

  3. With the jumper wires connected, if the Left Power Mirror Vertical Motor operates:

    Replace the Power Mirror Switch.
     
    Perform Body Verification Test.
     

  4.  
  5. If the Vertical Motor does not function properly, measure Left Power Mirror Vertical Motor circuit resistance.
  6.  

Right Power Mirror Horizontal Motor
  1. Turn the ignition off.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the Power Mirror Switch harness connector.
    NOTE
    Check connectors and clean/repair as necessary.

  4.  
  5. Connect a jumper wire between cavity 4 and ground of the Power Mirror Switch harness connector.
  6.  
  7. Turn the ignition on.

  9. Connect a jumper wire between cavity 6 and cavity 8 of the Power Mirror Switch harness connector.
  10.  
  11. With the jumper wires connected, if the Right Power Mirror Horizontal Motor operates, perform Body Verification Test.
  12.  
  13. If the Right Power Mirror Horizontal Motor does not operate, measure the Right Power Mirror Horizontal Motor circuit resistance.
  14.  

Right Power Mirror Horizontal Motor Resistance
  1. Turn the ignition off.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect all jumper wires.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the Right Power Mirror pigtail harness connector.
    NOTE
    The Power Mirror pigtail harness connector can be accessed by removing the small square access panel located at the top front corner of the door panel.


    NOTE
    Check connectors - Clean/repair as necessary.

  6.  
  7. Connect a jumper wire between cavity 5 and cavity 6 of the Right Power Mirror pigtail harness connector.

  9. Measure the resistance between cavity 4 and cavity 8 of the Power Mirror Switch harness connector.
  10.  
  11. If the resistance below 5.0 ohms, replace the Right Power Mirror.
  12.  
  13. Perform Body Verification Test.
  14.  
  15. If the resistance at or above 5.0 ohms, repair the Right Power Mirror Horizontal Motor circuit for an open.
  16.  
  17. Perform Body Verification Test.
  18.  

Right Power Mirror Inoperative

Possible causes:



Open right power mirror horizontal motor circuit
 
Open right power mirror vertical motor circuit
 
Right power mirror
 
Power mirror switch
 

Right Power Mirror Vertical Motor
  1. With the ignition on, and the jumper wire between cavity 4 and ground of the Power Mirror Switch harness connector still connected, disconnect jumper wire from cavity 8 and connect it to cavity 5 of the Power Mirror Switch harness connector.

  3. With the jumper wires connected, if the Right Power Mirror Vertical Motor operates, replace the Power Mirror Switch.
  4.  
  5. Perform Body Verification Test.
  6.  
  7. If the Right Power Mirror Vertical Motor does not operate, measure Right Power Mirror Vertical Motor circuit resistance.
  8.  

Right Power Mirror Vertical Motor Resistance
  1. Turn the ignition off.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect all jumper wires.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the Right Power Mirror pigtail harness connector.
    NOTE
    The Power Mirror pigtail harness connector can be accessed by removing the small square access panel located at the top front corner of the door panel.


    NOTE
    Check connectors and clean/repair as necessary.

  6.  
  7. Connect a jumper wire between cavity 5 and cavity 4 of the Right Power Mirror pigtail harness connector.

  9. Measure the resistance between cavity 4 and cavity 5 of the Power Mirror Switch harness connector.
  10.  
  11. If the resistance below 5.0 ohms, replace the Right Power Mirror.
  12.  
  13. Perform Body Verification Test.
  14.  
  15. If the resistance is 5.0 ohms or greater, repair the Right Power Mirror Vertical Motor circuit for an open circuit.
  16.  
  17. Perform Body Verification Test.
  18.  

Switch Resistance Check
  1. Turn the ignition off.
  2.  
  3. Measure the resistance between ground and the Power Mirror Switch harness connector.

  5. If the resistance is below 5.0 ohms, replace the Power Mirror Switch.
  6.  
  7. Perform Body Verification Test.
  8.  
  9. If the resistance is at or above 5.0 ohms, repair the Ground circuit between the Power Mirror Switch harness connector and ground for an open.
  10.  
  11. Perform Body Verification Test.
  12.  

Switch Voltage Check

NOTE
Inspect Fuse 6 located in the Underhood Accessory Fuse Block. If the fuse is open, repair the cause of the open fuse before continuing.

  1. Turn the ignition off.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the Power Mirror Switch harness connector.
    NOTE
    Check connectors and clean/repair as necessary.

  4.  
  5. Turn the ignition on.
  6.  
  7. Measure the voltage of the Fused B(+) circuit at the Power Mirror Switch harness connector.

  9. If the voltage is above 10 volts, measure power mirror switch ground circuit resistance.
  10.  
  11. If the voltage is at or below 10 volts, repair the Power Mirror Switch Fused B(+) circuit for an open.
  12.  
  13. Perform Body Verification Test.
  14.  

Removal & Installation
Motor

Both Sideview Mirrors are heated and each housing can manually fold in for protection. Mirror selection and movement direction is controlled by a 4-way double-pole switch. Two electric motors inside each Sideview Mirror housing actuate the glass surface in the corresponding direction that the switch is moved.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the door interior trim panel.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the sideview mirror harness connector.
  6.  
  7. Rotate the sideview mirror upward in order to expose the attaching screws.
  8.  
  9. Remove the two screws attaching the mirror to the door and remove the mirror.
  10.  

To install:

  1. Install the two screws attaching the mirror to the door.
  2.  
  3. Connect the sideview mirror harness connector.
  4.  
  5. Install the door interior trim panel.
  6.  
  7. Rotate the mirror back to its rest position.
  8.  
  9. Connect the negative battery cable.
  10.  

Switch
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the center console.
  4.  
  5. Release the retaining clip using a suitable tool and remove the power mirror switch from the center console.
  6.  

To install:

  1. Install the power mirror switch into the center console.
  2.  
  3. Install the center console.
  4.  
  5. Connect the negative battery cable.
  6.
