Removal & Installation


  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  3. Disconnect battery negative cable from battery and properly isolate to prevent accidental reconnection.
  5. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Accessory drive belt
    Oil in the power steering reservoir
    Power steering supply line from the reservoir
    Return hose from the power steering pump
    High-pressure hose from the power steering pump
    Power steering pump by removing the two bolts attaching it to the engine block

  7. Remove the reservoir if necessary by pressing out the C-clip using a suitable tool.

To install:

  1. Install or connect the following:

    Reservoir, if removed
    Power steering pump and bolts to the engine block and tighten to 15 ft. lbs. (20 Nm)
    High-pressure hose on the pump
    Return hose on the pump
    Power steering supply line to the reservoir
    Accessory drive belt

  3. Fill the power steering pump reservoir and bleed the system by performing the initial operation.
