Removal & Installation

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect battery negative cable from battery and properly isolate to prevent accidental reconnection.
  4.  
  5. Drain the cooling system.
  6.  
  7. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Radiator fan
     
    Air cleaner inlet tubes
     
    Upper and lower radiator hoses
     
    Coolant recovery reservoir hose
     
    Transmission cooler line located on the right side of the radiator (automatic transmission only)
     
    Transmission cooler line located in the middle front of the vehicle (automatic transmission only)

  9. Using a suitable tool, grasp the radiator hold down clamps and pull up to remove the clamps from the mounting holes.
  10.  
  11. Remove the condenser retaining bolts from the radiator support.
  12.  
  13. Carefully lean the radiator back toward the engine.
  14.  
  15. Gently lift and remove the radiator from the vehicle.

To install:

  1. Carefully lower the radiator into the vehicle.
  2.  
  3. Install or connect the following:

    Coolant recovery reservoir hose
     
    Transmission cooler line (automatic transmission only) and tighten the line to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm)
     
    Upper radiator hose
     
    Transmission cooler line located in the middle front of the vehicle (automatic transmission only)
     
    Radiator retaining clamps, using a suitable tool
     
    Condenser retainer bolts into the radiator support and tighten to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm)
     
    Radiator fan
     
    Air inlet tubes
     

  4.  
  5. Refill the cooling system.
  6.  
  7. Connect the negative battery cable.
  8.  
  9. Start the engine and check for coolant leaks.
  10.  
  11. Recheck the coolant level.
  12.
