Operation



The TPS contains two actual value potentiometers for detecting the position of the throttle valve. The system will switch to the second potentiometer if the first one fails. This sensor cannot be serviced separately. If the TPS fails, the throttle body must be replaced.

Removal & Installation



Except SRT
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Negative battery cable
     
    Throttle body intake tube
     
    Electrical connector
     
    PCV hose from the throttle body
     
    Throttle body retaining bolts and PCV hose bracket
     
    Throttle body with gasket
     

  4.  

To install:

  1. Install or connect the following:

    PCV hose to the throttle body
     
    Throttle body with new gasket. Tighten bolts to 15 ft. lbs. (20 Nm).
     
    Electrical connector
     
    Throttle body intake tube
     
    Negative battery cable
     

  2.  

SRT
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Negative battery cable
     
    Upper air intake assembly
     
    Throttle body intake tube by lifting up on the inlet tube lever
     
    Electrical connector
     
    PCV hose from throttle body
     
    Throttle body retaining bolts and PCV hose bracket
     
    Throttle body and gasket
     

  4.  

To install:

  1. Install or connect the following:

    PCV hose to the throttle body
     
    Throttle body and gasket. Tighten to 15 ft. lbs. (20 Nm).
     
    Electrical connector
     
    Throttle body intake tube as follows:
     

    1. Install the upper air intake assembly.
    2.  
    3. Install the throttle body intake tube by firmly inserting tube into the throttle body.
    4.  
    5. Ensure the intake tube lever is attached.

      Negative battery cable
