CAUTION
Only a MVAC-trained, EPA-certified, automotive technician should service the A/C system or its components.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect battery negative cable from battery and properly isolate to prevent accidental reconnection.
  4.  
  5. Evacuate the refrigerant from the system.
  6.  
  7. Remove the accessory drive belt.
  8.  
  9. Raise and support the vehicle.
  10.  
  11. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Lower engine compartment panel
     
    Bolts attaching A/C compressor to engine block
     
    Bolts from the high side and low side pressure lines
     
    A/C harness connector from the compressor

To install:

  1. Install or connect the following:

    A/C harness connector to the compressor
     
    Bolts on the high side and the low side pressure lines and tighten to 17 ft. lbs. (23 Nm)
     
    A/C compressor and tighten the bolts to 17 ft. lbs. (23 Nm)
     
    Lower engine compartment panel
     
    Accessory drive belt
     
    Negative battery cable
     

  2.  
  3. Charge the refrigerant to the system.
