Removal & Installation



Lower Oil Pan
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Drain the engine oil.
  4.  
  5. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Negative battery cable
     
    Engine undercover
     
    Transmission oil cooler line retainer bolts and place line aside
     
    Oil pan
     
    Oil pan gasket

To install:

  1. Install a bead of sealant around oil pan perimeter.
  2.  
  3. Install or connect the following:

    Oil pan. Tighten the bolts to 10 ft. lbs. (14 Nm).
     
    Transmission oil cooler lines
     
    Oil drain plug. Tighten to 22 ft. lbs. (30 Nm).
     
    Engine undercover
     
    Negative battery cable
     

  4.  
  5. Fill the engine with oil.
  6.  
  7. Start the engine and check for leaks.
  8.  

Upper Oil Pan
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Drain the engine oil.
  4.  
  5. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Negative battery cable
     
    Engine undercover
     
    Lower oil pan
     
    Front exhaust pipes
     
    Oil level/temperature sensor harness connector
     
    Front engine mount bolts
     
    Oil dipstick tube assembly
     

  6.  
  7. Install an engine support bracket and attach a suitable lifting device.
  8.  
  9. Raise the engine slightly to provide clearance to upper oil pan bolts.
    NOTE
    Take care not to damage coolant, power steering and A/C lines when lifting the raising the engine.

  10.  
  11. Remove the upper oil pan bolts.
  12.  
  13. Separate the oil pan from the engine block.
  14.  

To install:

  1. Install a bead of sealant around oil pan perimeter.
  2.  
  3. Install the correct bolts in the proper locations as shown. Torque the M6 bolts to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm), and M8 bolts to 15 ft. lbs. (20 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Install the lower oil pan.
  6.  
  7. Lower the engine back into position.
  8.  
  9. Remove the engine support bracket.
  10.  
  11. Install or connect the following:

    Dipstick tube assembly
     
    Front engine mount bolts. Tighten to 26 ft. lbs. (35 Nm).
     
    Oil level/temperature sensor harness connector
     
    Front exhaust pipes
     
    Engine undercover
     
    Negative battery cable
     

  12.  
  13. Fill the engine with oil.
  14.  
  15. Start the engine and check for leaks.
  16.
