  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
    CAUTION
    After disconnecting the negative battery cable, wait 2 minutes for the driver-s/passenger-s air bag system capacitor to discharge before attempting to do any work around the steering column or instrument panel.

  3. Drain the cooling system.
  4.  
  5. Recover the A/C refrigerant, if equipped.
  6.  
  7. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Heater hoses
     
    A pillar trim
     
    Fuse block covers
     
    Left and right air vents
     
    Center console-to-instrument top panel screws
     
    Glove box
     
    Defroster vents
     
    A pillar sheet metal clips
     
    Instrument panel top section
     
    Steering column cover
     
    Lower instrument panel
     
    Instrument cluster cover
     
    Instrument cluster
     
    Steering wheel
     
    Sentry Key Remote Entry Module (SKREEM)
     
    Wiring connectors at transmission tunnel
     
    Steering column bolts-to-instrument panel support
     
    Position steering column aside
     
    Electrical harness connector on passenger airbag module
     
    Left and right heater ducts
     
    Heater core attaching nuts
     
    Instrument panel support bolts
     
    Vacuum reservoir lines
     
    Instrument panel support
     
    HVAC housing electrical connectors
     
    HVAC housing

  9. Separate heater core from HVAC housing

To install:

  1. Install or connect the following:

    Heater core to HVAC housing
     
    HVAC housing
     
    HVAC housing electrical connectors
     
    Instrument panel support
     
    Instrument panel support bolts
     
    Steering column bolts-to-instrument panel support
     
    Wiring connectors at transmission tunnel
     
    Sentry Key Remote Entry Module (SKREM)
     
    Instrument cluster
     
    Instrument cluster cover
     
    Steering wheel
     
    Left and right heater ducts
     
    Vacuum reservoir lines
     
    Instrument panel support bolts
     
    HVAC housing attaching nuts
     
    Position steering column into place
     
    Steering column bolts-to-instrument panel support
     
    Wiring connectors at transmission tunnel
     
    Sentry Key Remote Entry Module (SKREM)
     
    Steering wheel
     
    Instrument cluster
     
    Instrument cluster cover
     
    Left and right heater ducts
     
    Lower instrument panel cover
     
    Lower instrument panel screws
     
    Steering column cover
     
    Instrument panel top section
     
    A pillar sheet metal clips
     
    Defroster vents

  2.  
  3. Recharge the A/C refrigerant.
  4.  
  5. Fill the cooling system.
  6.  
  7. Start the engine and check for leaks.
