Air Mix/Mode Actuator (Blend Door)

Removal & Installation



  1. Remove the left console side panel
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the electrical connector from the rear mode actuator.
  4.  
  5. Remove the rear mode actuator retaining screws.
  6.  
  7. Remove the rear mode actuator.

To install:

  1. Install the actuator.
  2.  
  3. Install the actuator retaining screws.
  4.  
  5. Torque the fasteners to 1.4 Nm(12 ft. lbs.).
  6.  
  7. Connect the electrical connector to the actuator.
  8.  
  9. Install the left console side panel.
  10.  
  11. Recalibrate the actuators using a Scan Tool.
  12.  


CAUTION
When you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring, you must disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System. Failure to follow the correct procedure could cause air bag deployment, personal injury, or unnecessary SIR system repairs.

  1. Remove the Auxiliary Blower Motor and IP Support Bracket assembly from the vehicle.
  2.  
  3. Remove the fasteners from the rear HVAC extension duct in order to remove both halves of the extension duct from the rear HVAC assembly.
  4.  
  5. Remove both halves of the extension duct from the rear HVAC assembly.
  6.  
  7. Remove the fasteners that retain the rear HVAC assembly to the center support bracket.
  8.  
  9. Remove the auxiliary blower motor assembly from the IP center support bracket.
  10.  
  11. Remove the electrical connector from the rear mode actuator.
  12.  
  13. Remove the three fasteners from the rear mode actuator.
  14.  
  15. Remove the rear mode actuator from the blower motor assembly.

To install:

  1. Position the rear mode actuator in place on the rear blower motor assembly.
  2.  
  3. Install the rear mode actuator fasteners and tighten to 12 inch lbs. (1.4 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Connect the rear mode actuator electrical connector.
  6.  
  7. Install the blower motor assembly to the IP center support bracket.
  8.  
  9. Install the fasteners that retain the rear HVAC blower motor assembly to the IP center support bracket and tighten to 18 inch lbs. (2 Nm).
  10.  
  11. Install both halves of the rear extension duct to the rear HVAC assembly.
  12.  
  13. Install the fasteners in order to hold the rear extension duct to the rear HVAC assembly and tighten to 12 inch lbs. (1.4 Nm).
  14.  
  15. Install the Auxiliary Blower Motor and IP Center Support Bracket assembly into the vehicle.
  16.  
  17. Recalibrate the actuators:
    NOTE
    The module memory will not clear if the battery positive voltage circuit fuse is installed in less than 60 seconds.



    Turn the ignition OFF .
     
    Remove the battery positive voltage circuit fuse of the Instrument Panel Control Module.
     



    Wait at least 60 seconds.
     
    Install the fuse.
