Removal & Installation

CAUTION
Before servicing any electrical component, the ignition key must be in the OFF or LOCK position and all electrical loads must be OFF , unless instructed otherwise in these procedures. If a tool or equipment could easily come in contact with a live exposed electrical terminal, also disconnect the negative battery cable. Failure to follow these precautions may cause personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the cross-car brace.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect and position the ignition control module assembly out of the way.
  6.  
  7. Position the cross-car harness out of the way.
  8.  
  9. Remove the solenoid purge valve.
  10.  
  11. Remove the inertial plate screws from the blower motor.
  12.  
  13. Remove the inertial plate from the blower motor.
  14.  
  15. Disconnect the connector from the blower motor.
  16.  
  17. Remove the blower motor screws.
  18.  
  19. Remove the blower motor.
  20.  

To install:

  1. Install the blower motor and the screws.
  2.  
  3. Tighten the screws to 35 inch lbs. (4 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Install the inertial plate and screws and tighten to 35 inch lbs. (4 Nm).
  6.  
  7. Connect the connector to the blower motor.
  8.  
  9. Install the solenoid purge valve.
  10.  
  11. Reposition and install the ignition control module assembly.
  12.  
  13. Install the cross-car brace.
  14.  
  15. Connect the negative battery cable.
  16.

  1. Remove the camshaft cover.
  2.  
  3. Remove the inertial plate screws from the blower motor.
  4.  
  5. Remove the inertial plate from the blower motor.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the connector from the blower motor.
  8.  
  9. Remove the blower motor screws.
  10.  
  11. Remove the blower motor.
  12.  

To install:

  1. Install the blower motor and the screws.
  2.  
  3. Tighten the screws to 35 inch lbs. (4 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Install the inertial plate and screws and tighten to 35 inch lbs. (4 Nm).
  6.  
  7. Connect the connector to the blower motor.
  8.  
  9. Install the camshaft cover.
  10.

  1. Remove the right side sound insulator.
  2.  
  3. Pull back the carpet near the blower motor.
  4.  
  5. Remove the Instrument Panel compartment.
  6.  
  7. Remove the dash integration module from bracket.
  8.  
  9. Remove the two rear dash integration module bracket screws.
  10.  
  11. Reposition the dash integration module bracket to allow for removal of the blower motor.
  12.  
  13. Disconnect the electrical connector from the blower motor.
  14.  
  15. Disconnect he blower motor ventilation tube from the module (if equipped).
  16.  
  17. Remove the blower motor retaining screws.
  18.  
  19. Rotate and remove the blower motor from vehicle.
  20.  

To install:

  1. Install the blower motor. Blower motor will need to be rotated to install into the housing. Ensure that the blower motor gasket is properly aligned.
  2.  
  3. Install the blower motor retaining screws.
  4.  
  5. Connect the electrical connector to the blower motor.
  6.  
  7. Connect the blower motor ventilation tube to the module (if equipped).
  8.  
  9. Reposition the dash integration module bracket to its original position.
  10.  
  11. Install the two rear dash integration module bracket screws.
  12.  
  13. Install the Instrument Panel compartment.
  14.  
  15. Reposition the carpet.
  16.  
  17. Install the right side sound insulator.
  18.

  7. Connect the connector to the blower motor.
  8.  
  9. Install the solenoid purge valve.
  10.  
  11. Reposition and install the ignition control module assembly.
  12.  
  13. Install the cross-car brace.
  14.  
  15. Connect the negative battery cable.
