A sliding caliper front disc brake is used on all models. A single hydraulic piston is used, this acts on the inboard brake shoe. When the brake pedal is depressed, the piston forces the inside brake shoe or pad into contact with the disc. Increasing force against the disc causes the caliper to slide towards the disc and bring the outboard shoe into contact. The caliper slides on machined grooves or "ways" in the adapter that is bolted to the steering knuckle. Retaining spring clips keep the caliper from moving vertically.
