  1. Raise the vehicle and safely support it while allowing the front suspension to hang free.
  2.  
  3. Release the load on the torsion bars by turning the anchor adjusting bolts counterclockwise. Count the number of turns to release the load and remember it for installation.
  4.  
  5. Raise the lower control arms until there is 2 7 / 8 inch clearance between the crossmember ledge and the torsion bar end bushing flange on the lower control arm. This is the "Design Height".
  6.  
  7. Unbolt the sway bar from the lower control arm.
  8.  
  9. Remove the retainer assembly strap bolts and the straps.
  10.  
  11. Remove the sway bar.
  12.  
  13. Inspect the bushings on the ends of the bar and the retainer strap bushings and replace any that are worn or deteriorated.
  14.  
  15. Raise the lower control arms to the "Design Height".
  16.  
  17. Assemble the bushings to the sway bar ends and bolt the bar to the lower control arm. Tighten the bolts to 50 ft. lbs.
  18.  
  19. Tighten the retainer strap bolts to 30 ft. lbs.
  20.  
  21. Load the torsion bars by turning the anchor adjusting bolts in the crossmember clockwise. Tighten them the same number of turns as when disassembling.

  23. Lower the vehicle and check the front end height and adjust if necessary.
